Oh really... From the rendering it seems that the roofs are made in the old fashioned way, so it is likely to suppose they build the buildings in the old appearance.

The rendering is not of the investor.

BtW The amount to be invested is above 150 million.

Now some pictures of the opposite "Landstrasse" street project:

I have heard people asking about the usage of the right hand building.
That building is the Police Headquarters!

approved pics by user bilderbuch, thanks!

this building witch is on the left the picture before is or used to be a private palais outside the old city wall, therefore the name: Land haus palais, located at Land Strasse, witch was heading out the land to the valley. The Landhaus Palais lost one wing to widen the Wilsdruffer strasse in the 1950's.

I think not too bad of the project. It is mostly going to be residential. Having said before that the demand for baroque condos and rental units in Dresden is very high, it could become the whipcream on the pie!-)

Some more pictures from "Frieseneck" project across the street:

This investor has responded by demand and is using now more "oldfashend" windows, than original planned!

This is interesting:

inner court

inner court in June. It's moving!

This is going to be the one reconstructed building of the three buildings:

The new building. Windows are now more to the taste of the tenants:

It's great to see Landhausstrasse's streetscape filling in from this perspective. The reconstructed British Hotel looks magnificent!

Because some people think dormers that look like giant air vents or loud speakers make more sense. And, facades that look like the Hollywood Squares set create a more interesting addition to Dresden's historic image.

It looks like they wanted to get something - anything - up, as quickly and as cheaply as possible.

They already done some changes. The customers are't renting like planed and are complaining. The Dresden Neumarkt design committee recommended pro modern architects to the investor. That investor is now complaining about the complaining clients

The Newmarket association btw is pushing with promising outlook (complains from the Dresdners) to dissolve that committee.

The whole story: Original plans called to put gigantic shopping malls [I need to get the visualisations] here. After a hefty fight with the citizens, the city hall decided to create that "Neumarkt design committee" full of extreme pro modern architects. The city's idea to make it looks like we meat in the middle. That design committee can make things go slowwww
Witch is money. That is the reason for the Neumarkt not finished.
That is also the reason that no neo baroque buildings go up.
They where proposed. Anyway, some members of that committee quit after being criticized in private. To my knowledge, the all had to be replaced.
The city hall and political parties are also struggling for support. I would say the pressure is on.

BTW: That is the reason behind some investors are waiting so long with rebuilding. They also acknowledged that money is not the problem. In fact some buildings cost the same build the old ways looking

Are there any visualisations of the original baroque buildings? I've read few times they weren't something extraordinary, but I want to judge them myself.

It should be reconstruction at least 500 metres in all direction from Frauenkirche. I bet 9/10 both locals and tourists alike would agree. At least Jüdenhof will be reconstructed =)

Whole city should be reconstructed because it was one of the most magnificent cities in the world.

I can understand. If I were looking to lease space in the reconstructed Altstadt, the above would most certainly NOT be what I was expecting. I would complain, too.

Ironically, that committee is only for the Neumarkt area. There are way nicer projects in the suburbs. But that does't help us for now. But something funny: That committee is replacing board members fast. One newspaper stated one former member that she was approached with critic everywhere. In the Taxi by the driver. By her doctor in the waiting room and so on.

I have an idea: We send some seven year old cutie bringing free cookies or whatever to those members with tears in her bambi eyes:"Why?!?! Just tell me why you hate my future?" He he. just jocking!

After this thread has hit rock bottom, I like to enlighten all your feelings with a unbelievable success story. As I mentioned pages before, there are reconstruction efforts outside Dresden, too. As such, I like to present to you the fresh finished [last year] project of Schloss Muskau, located in the town of Bad Muskau

pictures are from Wikipedia 1990's and 2003

Destroyed by Poles, there was nothing left
