Some updates,

they closed the windows against the cold with some particle board

view from Taschenberg

It`s amazing, no tiles are nailed or glued down. Makes maintenance easy: Just lift and walk

Thanks, Millennio Secondo

The "Frieseneck" is also undressing itself.
We remember: One reconstruction next to Britisch Hotel and three semi new at the "eck"= corner

like to know the painted décor will be on the re-construction

picks from bilderbuch

paint sample

the loggias being painted

The inner court is getting balconies. Hopefully some fitting ones

Things seem to be progressing quite well! Is there any information available on the other quarters? Which one is likely to follow next for reconstruction?

We should never forget the loss of innocent life that happened on those days.

While I agree this is definitely not a political discussion thread, nor should it become one, I can sympathise with this sentiment - Dresden is yet again becoming a beautiful city but an occasional reminder of those terrible days is not totally out of order IMO.

Agree completely. The reminder of the anniversary is not a political discussion. It was, in part, the turning off of speech and free commentaries that led to the tragedy of Dresden, so a healthy and occasional recognition helps keep the purpose of the thread in clear perspective and understanding.

What was political about that post? This thread is dedicated to the rebuilding of what was destroyed 71 years ago and my post simply stated we should never forget the genocide that took place.

The thing is, people click on this thread to see pictures of buildings, not corpses. Just a thought.

There's nothing "political", is just a matter of fact. What is going to be rebuild was destroyed exactly in these days, 71 years ago.
Don't be bothered about the picture that's shown, it's not very polite, OK, but it's true. As sad it is.
Right? Wrong? Doesn't matter, just remember.

The first picture on this page is of the newly excavated ruins of cellars. There are such pictures all over this forum. When I look at them - especially those with living human beings clambering about their chambers - I feel a shudder of revulsion when I imagine the horror that took place in these very cellars that night 71 years ago.

The picture of the corpses that Spam King posted is no less unpleasant, but I don't think it's out of place here. What the victims experienced that night was far, far worse than any discomfort we may feel while glancing at pictures of their charred corpses. To admire pretty buildings under construction while turning a blind eye to what actually happened here is, in my opinion, to dishonor the victims of that hellacious night.

I tend to agree, while one picture is enough.

I think pics of the destroyed city, like that one taken from the City Hall tower, are more appropriate for this thread, since we are talking here about the urbanistic resurrection of the city, not war and its crimes. I'm sorry for all the innocent people dying there during that horrible time, but this isn't the right place for posting a photo of their corpses. For me, it's disrespectful for the victims. Now, let's continue with our real topic.

^ Word. This is solely an architecture/cityscapes forum and thread, as sorry as we are for the victims, this just isn't the place, period.
