Hopefully the financials will get worked out soon for the Stadt Leipzig. Here's what it looked like a few years ago:

The Residenzschloss is easily among the best and most enjoyable museums/exhibitions I have visited. I remember they were doing work on the courtyard, do they plan on restoring other interior rooms/collections in the future? Gotta love Dresden :p!

Yes, there are going to be many more interior rooms restored.
The management is in close contact with the federal government.
In difference to the city of Dresden, the provincial and federal levels want to push Dresden to new glory. The Residenz Schloss is one of the main pets for the federal level. The big plan is to turn Dresden to one of four museum hubs in Germany and in some niche segments, like collections of horse equipment, weaponry collections,(Dresden has the oldest open for public museum in the world) oriental and middle eastern culture of war, porcelain manufacturing, coin and history of money, (The name "Dollar" comes from here) traffic vehicles (Biggest collection of cable cars and alike in Europe) and some other niche segments. And in those niche segments, the plans are to put Dresden on the world map.

Just a month ago, there was a international congress about leather works of the 16th century in Dresden. The experts marveled about foldable drinking cups made from leather. The cups where made in the hundred of thousands 500 Years ago for the Turkish military. From seven cups in known existence worldwide, five are in Dresden. The Court in Dresden bought them band new for display only.

Thanks The Eagle! Wow, even since I was in Dresden in 2012 or 2013 much has changed. What an exciting time we live in to see all this happen. And God bless Gunther Blobel!

The Dinglingerbrunnen was already rebuilt in the 1960s, but at the Gewandhaushotel. So I think they create a second one and won't remove the "old" one again.

Rebuilding the fountain sounds fantastic. Can't wait to see it finished.

What is being built at the Postplatz?

In the courtyard of the yellow building, Frauenstraße 9. Also known as Dinglingerhaus, not to confuse with the other Dinglingerhaus at the Jüdenhof.

Check this site, the building is painted rose in this visualisation.

Thanks! And this is to be reconstructed as Quartier V-1, underway now.

Was the courtyard a private area or somewhat open to walking traffic, connecting the neumarkt with the Wilmersdorf Str?

Thanks people! You past the test. I just mentioned the fountain and wondered if someone stumbles over the news.

Todays fountain and the old one.

In this remodeled building was the fountain. Drawing of situation et domino 1751. The roof was changed later. All six floors had running water! In 1628!!

Same street, different color scheme from later years. Ours is the high building. This roof is a product of later years. The first years, the roof was flat.

The Dinglingers had different houses. First ones, later ones, different brothers with different jobs. This Dinglinger was into gold works and had 23 Children from five women. Most died in childbirth. He also had 14 apprentices and five staff to clean. That is what I call a full house! This is a picture of the other side of the street:

This was build later

And of course, the wine estate outside Dresden:

The fountain

The second location, towards the city hall

source ARSTEMPANO, approved.

The doors used to be open for the passerby before the war.
It looks like, the fountain will be rebuild a 2nd time and the doors will be open for passerby's again!

I would have thought TheEagle would have already spread the news about the former Au Petit Bazar, that will "reconstructed" next and that finally got its visualisation:

It is unfortunately not going to be a faithful reconstruction but a new building based on the old Au Petit Bazar that once stood there:

Most Neumarkt visitors will not realize that the new building is pretty much a fantasy product with made up proportions and roof but this is still a pretty significant blowback for the faithful reconstruction effort of the Neumarkt area. This will only play into the hands of reconstruction opponents, who will justifiably call this building a Disneyland product.
The irony of it all is, that the investor building this fantasy product is actually a member, an honorary member even, of the GHND (Society Historic Neumarkt Dresden) who have been campaigning for a faithfully reconstructed Neumarkt for decades.

How many of Dresdens historical buildings have been rebuilt as replicas since the beginning of the project, does anybody know? How many buildings, stylised with historical proportions or other wise, are part of this project? I cant find anything with definitive answers and the google maps of Dresden is very limited, with only a few photo locations. So Im finding it hard to understand the scope of this project, and how it compares with the original neumarkt

So, this will be a totaly different building... really sad. It wont even fit the neighboring buildings which is even more sad as there once had been a single developement and so the ties to history of the former building will be broken forever!

Yep, it is a huge disappointment in many regards:

1) The legitimacy of the whole Neumarkt project will take a big hit. Fantasy buildings so far were very rare. There was just one building with a doubled facade. With this new building block reconstruction opponents can finally justifiably call the Neumarkt Disneyland.

2) The reputation of the GHND, the defenders of a faithfully reconstructed Neumarkt, will take a big hit, since it is one of their own members, an honorable member even, that we have to thank for this Frankenstein of a building.

3) The original Au Petit Bazar was a unique, beautiful and well proportioned building that will now never return.

4) A roof like it is now planned for the new Au Petit Bazar is completely atypical for Dresden. It will stick out like a sore thumb.

5) The narrow intermediate building between the new Au Petit Bazar and the rest of the building block is visually very unsatisfactory and disruptive.

6) Because of the additional narrow intermediate building the baroque symmetry of the neighbouring building will be ruined.
