Great work on this thread!!! A huge amount of work must go into it.

Some of the buildings give me a bit of the feeling I had when I visited the Venetian in Macau last week. There are no craftsmen anymore like there were in the old days.

It should be mentioned, that whether Kampflamm nor me took all these pictures.
We have to thank the diligent APH-users for all their effort on documenting this fantastic development!

I love how it says 2008 and not like 1698.

Update

Some fresh pictures of Quartier III (2nd March '08) - storm "Emma" pulled off some of the awnings.

And you may also take a look at this page: Neumarkt construction site

wow simply gorgeous!
Makes one wonder if the destruction and reconstruction could be just a time in the history books of these buildings in the future?
The modern structure isn't as bad as I thought. Its organized and uses stone so it sort of blends in and it can always be refaced later.

Hopefully the successful completion of this project will encourage other reconstruction projects all over Europe.

Have reconstructions in Dresden opened any debate about other possible reconstructions in Germany?

Yes! Frankfurt is going to reconstruct a part of it's "Altstadt" (old city).
And there are some smaller projects in some other cities. But I do not know if they were proposed just because of Dresden's Neumarkt.

reconstructions are very welcome

i'd like to know how likely it is that they're going to reconstruct the city palaces of berlin and potsdam (at least the facades)? i've read very confusing info about them

Both are quite likely. Potsdam didn't look all that promising up until a couple of months ago when some guy donated €20 mio.

Kurländer Palais

AdF 16 and 17, right next to Quartier III

Quartier III with building Neumarkt 4 again (Kampfy also showed it in his last post)

Landhausstraße 1 at QIII

Not the worst modern building actually.

Quartier V / Heinrich-Schütz-Residenz

Is that one palace with the dome going to be rebuilt in Berlin? Are there any other proposals for reconstructions in Berlin?
Does anyone here think that this could start up reconstructions in other parts of the world as well?

You mean this one? Yes, it's gonna be rebuilt although there are some discussions going on about the dome and whether or not it will be rebuilt and if yes if it'll be a modern version ( ).

I smell a duplicate of the Reichstag dome.

Other Quartier III buildings:

First ornaments on the Heinrich-Schütz-Residenz:

Can't say I'm too crazy about the peach and lemon colors. But I guess we'll have to get used to them.
