@Thorgeirr
Funny you mention it...XD
It's the GDR Kulturpalast. It is THE eyesore in this area but sadly the Dresdeners are going to keep it.

It's funny that this is the building in the area called "kultur"palast. Not very rich in culture it seems...

The kulturpalast is a monument of its time, and it's really not that bad (though it would definately benefit from a renovation). And I quite like the wall painting:

The building looks like a factory, no significance. The painting can be transported to a museum, which also includes pics of how Soviets killed 40 million people.

Properly, the Kulturpalast tear off and the facade from in the museum! And then again historical buildings on it build.

To me this building should be preserved, as it is part of the history of the city and of the whole world. It's a matter of fact that Dresden was part of the DDR, and this mustn't be forgotten.

Sorry my friend, I am the same inhabitant of Dresden and the Kulturpalast has to leave or are altered.
From Dresden has not been left a lot. There is still enough GDR architecture to admire in the city.
Tear off so Kulturpalast or do alterations like it wanted the Sachsenbau.

I agree with you, but in my opinion the Kulturpalast for its importance should be preserved. Maybe could be revamped with a new look, here in Milan we have a lot of ugly buildings from fascist era but we preserve them as an heritage anyway.

This already is right, one can tear away from an epoch not everything, but in Dresden there are enough buildings from this time.

We have, for example, still the Rundkino and the almost complete Prager Straße in GDR-styles. This reaches and is in my opinion already too much.

Nevertheless, so one can tear off the Kulturpalast and aim there at the historical cultivation, so that the new market becomes a whole one.

Or they do alterations completely, with a new facade like it was already planned. You have pictures of the rebuilding plans, by the way, pair of sides before in this Thread.
