I'm hoping that someone in the coming months accidentaly spills some paint or accidentily throws some rocks at the walls . It's a bit too much of a Disneyland feel right now.

I like the way the modern-austere facade is unashamedly put in the middle of the dressed-heritage style buildings. Works well, still fluent, yet breaks up the 'monotony' a bit.

Dresden will receive tourists just to see the impressive reconstruction of this great polis. Incredible results, props to the denizens of Dresden!!

Hotel Stadt Rom and Heinrich-Schütz-Residenz...a long time ago.

Perhaps in a couple of years time...

The first picture is brilliant

And the "Hotel Stadt Rom" is built definitively, believe me, 3 investors argue about it.
Nevertheless, this is already a good sign, right?

What I noticed in Dresden was that there were a lot of old people, pensioners. And I wasn't the only one to notice, because I read it afterwards in many articles about Dresden. All "young" (age 20-50) people are in the Neustadt on the other side of the Elbe it seems. How come?

Quite simply my friend, Neustadt is the scene quarter number one in Dresden. More than 100 bars, pubs and restaurants. Terrifically many music stores and alternative things stores, so the youngsters/teens are on the move in Neustadt.

If you were real in that "Altmarkt-Galerie", "Prager Straße" or "Weiße Gasse", there are also many Cafès, bars and thereby young people?

Give them time, the weathered look will come soon enough. And please stop comparing everything to Disneyland, its the tackiest place on earth.]

Are there any renderings of the British Hotel?

So you suggest acts of vandalism, with some stupid guys doing some ugly unmotivated tagging? I am sure that would truly improve the feel of that square

Whats disneylandish about it? The fact that old styles are constructed newly? Thats the way those old buildings look like when they are new. Wait some time, those buildings age in grace, unlike most modern buildings. If your argument would have any justification all major cities in Europe would have looked like Disneyland in the late 19th centuries in their newly constructed neighbourhoods. Thats hilarious.

I'm very much looking forward to Schlossstrasse and Sporergasse. Those Renaissance houses across from the Castle look terrific and will make for a nice ensemble with the Georgentor.

Sadly it's not going anywhere...
The Kulturpalast, biggest eyesore in Dresden's Old Town, will stay.

Oh that's a pity. Such a shopping arcade would very much compliment the 'period' urban fabric of the city. But I also believe the Kulturpalast is worth preserving for its own heritage value. Perhaps they could construct the arcade elsewhere?

Danke für die tollen Bilder-Updates, Kampflamm!
Wirklich unglaublich, wie sich dieser Platz in den letzten Jahren verändert hat.
