A question for you Dresdeners:

I regularly look at this webcam, and I noticed something very interesting June 22 0:00-3:00. I could always see a faint light in the horizon to the direction where the sun sets and rises during the summer.

Is it the scattering of the city lights, or is it really faint light coming from the sun, in a city this far south? I don't know if it's the city lights, as the slight glow is coming from one direction rather than all directions, but it could still be it.

The Kulturpalast, biggest eyesore in Dresden's Old Town, will stay.
I don't agree with you saying it is an eyesore, i thought it was quite nice, especially for commie architecture. It's a kind of monument and part of the rich history of the city.

The Saxon Palace in Warsaw will be reconstructed as well. Maybe some Polish forumers have some more information on that.

Here in Germany both city palaces in Potsdam and Berlin will be reconstructed.

President of Warsaw wants to postpone (2012) the project (The Saxon Palace)because of she needs the mony elsewhere -subway,new bridge etc.

Nuremberg could use a "Neumarkt"-like Project. When entering through the gorgeous walls and finding mostly generic post WW2 buildings, that is quite underwhelming.

Nuremberg looks horrible. I don't think I'll ever visit that city since it would just be too painful.

Hmm, strange. Is it that bad? Most of the pictures i've seen of the city look pretty good.

Yeah, one can photograph the few remaining old buildings in certain angles and get a couple of (very!) nice pics. Nurembergs lost awesomeness still shines through in some areas, yet as an ensemble it is lost.

But reconstruct like 50 key buildings (or all buildings in a key area like the Main Market) and it becomes one of the most awesome cities in Europe once again.

What's with that blank grey wall in both pictures?

Anyway, quite a fierce ensemble
