The area past the river looks intact.
What is it called? Pics?

It's the baroque Neustadt. Pretty nice area, been staying there in a great hotel.

wow

Dresden castle looks amazing - I cant believe the detail and craftsmanship that went into that building. This alone will be worth another trip to Dresden.

Thanks for the great pictures/updates!

Thats the way, aha aha, I like it, aha aha ...

http://bausituation-dresden.blogspot.com/

The roof of the hotel makes a pretty brutal impression, but thats no problem at all, as from the pedestrian view down in the street you don't see the upper half of the roof. I do not fully comprohend though, why they have not painted the middle part of the hotel in a different decent colour, in order to make the hotel looking more varied while not disrupting its coherence at all. That would have been a perfect compromise for such an important old town street.

The modern building is too big IMO, but I still think they did what they set out to, rebuild the Neumarkt with mostly old style but some modern style, as it no bombing had taken place and some buildings had been replaced in the 60 years since.

Construction for the houses next door (all historic reconstructions!) is already underway:

Amazing

I can't wait for the head building of the street. The next upcoming reconstructions will be fantabulous, promised!

Are there already renderings for the head building? Will it be a historical reconstruction?
