How moving it must be for Dresdeners seeing their city rise up from the ashes back to its former glory!

There won't be a new Gewandhaus. Instead there will be a new park. The Gewandhaus would have been in front of the building you are refering to.

The British Hotel

I know there are fragments of the facade preserved somewhere, they will be returned to their original position?

Incorporating facade fragments from the remains of the original British Hotel would be a refreshing change from the other historic reconstructions.

In how far? Many of "the other historic reconstructions" got original fragments included as well, when they were still available. AdF 16, AdF 17, K÷hlersches Haus, SchŘtz-Residenz, QII, Kurlńnder Palais, ...

Not to think about the Frauenkirche, where you can easily spot the original stone fragments.

^Obviously the Frauenkirche is a great example of incorporating existing materials into the new facade. I think that is what makes it so special.

I didn't realize that many of the other buildings also have done this. It, in a sense, helps to "legitimize" the reconstruction effort.

Are the remains of the cellars being retained and incorporated into the new structures or are they being removed?
