Since the Schloss is shown her too, how about some pics of the new Turkish chamber?

The Turkish chamber (Türckische Cammer), a collection of 600 Oriental and Oriental-style pieces, is part of the armoury (Rüstkammer). Not shown in the last 70 years, the Turkish chamber now returned to the royal palace and was opened last weekend. The exhibition occupies 750m² and is one of the largest collection of its kind. The most impressive piece is a 20-metre-long, eight-metre-wide and six-metre-high Ottoman state tent.

Thanks for introducing the Türckische Cammer, Karasek. I can't wait to visit it when I'm in Dresden again this summer.
The progress at Neumarkt will be astounding then as well.

From what I can gather the reconstruction of Henry Street is going to be modern and not Baroque!

Campaigners were hoping for this:

and instead the city council has given the go ahead for something like this:

A building permit will be issued some time in 2010.

I think they haven't made a decision just yet.

After a long hard winter, construction has finally resumed on Rampische Straße:

You got that wrong Wolfie. The second design is something the "campaigners" of GHND came up with as an alternative for another investor to the real cr*p proposed by the Florana KG here.

That's the pristine design for Heinrichstraße 5-7 (see this thread) by investor Florana:

Visualisierung: Florana KG. Bildquelle

That's what happens when you don't speak German

And are they actually going to build that? It's hideous even by 'modern' standards

We're currently fighting for it not to happen.

It seems there is an alternative investor who would build the modest modern buildings proposed by GHND. Probably some reconstruction would be possible then as well. But I'm not that sanguine about it after all.

Any close up pics of the facade decorations beginning to appear? That place will be one of the nicest of all the reconstructions as the old facade was savage.

I love buildings with big roofs, like the one in far right. Looks pretty cool.

Hopefully the Palais de Saxe, behind the Britische Hotel, will be built as well.

This is not an improvement over the train-wreck that is there now. I cannot understand why the traditional architecture is not chosen over this banal, soon to be outdated trash!

I am a big fan of good modern design but this is just cheap crap for this location. Might be acceptable for a new suburban development project but not for such an important inner city location. The proposed alternatives are good though. Wouldn't even mind if they included more modern elements. Important is quality and that it fits in.

The alternatives you have linked to are decent. Like day and night compared to that disastrous trash above.

While I'd be happy about more reconstructions, this modern but compatible version looks nice as well. That other thing above, looks like the same crap that was built some decades ago and which people want to get rid nowadays again.
