The whole reconstruction is amazing. Dresden started looking as beautiful as during its golden ages.

I'd like to know this too. Most of the photographs of the street I've seen, old and new, seem to focus on the iconic view up towards the Frauenkirche.

Does anyone know?

I think this is the rendering for the south side (even addresses) of Rampishe Str directly across from the row of renovated houses we have been looking at. The south side will be largely part of the Hoym Palais complex rear portion. Looks really wonderful if this comes through.

the view here is as if the iconic view up Rampishe toward the Frauenkirche was moved to the left to see the south side of the street.

OK, I see how it will work. So it's dependent on the Hoym being rebuilt at some point. If it does, then this should be how it'll look. What's it like now on this side of Rampsiche? Are there still post-war buildings there or is it one big empty lot?

Either way, it'll look lovely when it's done

It is now an empy lot. All the buildings (other than the police station) are gone. There has been some excavation so it does appear to be getting ready for building, but I cannot find or obtain any infomration on scheduling.

Maybe they're trying to find a financial backer?

getting financing is always an issue. but it will happen. there is HUGE social and political pressure to finish the altstadt within the plans now approved. To come are the possibilites of removing the kulturpalast, the row of "barracks" along Wilsdruffer str, and the renovation of the parnaische platz area. Once the current construction takes on its final look next summer, the drive to complete the project will be heightened and speed up.

separately, is this the place to complain about the HORRIBLE design of the Dresden Museum of Military History?

I could only dream of this happening in my city, Rotterdam. Just a few streets would be wonderful, but in Rotterdam (or in the Netherlands) that is a tabu! (we say: "Cursing in the church")

Some videoclips from youtube

Dresden,Royal Palace

Dresden

And because of reconstruction the city, it is okay to post this in this "re"-contest.

After 70 years, the "Türckische Cammer" - the turkish chamber opens again in his palce of origin in the Dresden Zwinger palace I think it is worth to mention. Great islamic and especially turkish stuff and art from 16th to 19th century, with the majority from the 17th to the 18th century.

German language only

Restauration of the goods, about 20 years

Quartier VIII:

Picture I took a couple of months ago...the white buildings on the right will be hidden from sight by the reconstructions:

I agree, I think once the altstadt starts to come together, there will be pressure to replace the last remaining 'scars' like the Kulturpalast. Although I'm not a fan of the Kulturpalast, I think it has its place in history, at a minimum it would be great to keep the socialist facade on the west side of the building.

Whats the rough break down of private to public (including donation) funding in the altstadt?
