I went to Shanghai in October 2005, I did not like that tower before, but I liked it very much "in person, in situ"!

Beautiful attention to detail....

Beautiful Lobby

Even the Subway stations incorporates the Art Deco architecture

I can't imagine how fine that building is if you look at it very closely! It is truely a classic Art Deco scraper

It's a great Art Deco classic but it gets so lost in the density of Midtown.
It's crowded by those bland boxes of the 1960's!

My favourite has always been potala palace, tibet

But others I love are:
CCTV Headquarters
Taj Mahal
Burj Dubai (soon)
Kingdom Centre

also can't wait for the dynamic tower to be built.

This was already mentioned earlier in post 95, but The Pantheon in Rome is my choice as well. It was built in 126 and is one of the most miraculous survivors from ancient times.
Of all the old places I have ever visited, the Pantheon topped them all for that step-back-in-time feel.
A very cool building:

One of the greatest buildings in the architecture history, but "cool" it's not the most siutable word. It's not cool. it's beautiful, historic, amazing, important, but not cool. My subjective opinion.

Um...This is a thread called 'Coolest building in the world'. I wrote "cool" only because it seemed in keeping with the theme. If the Pantheon had been in a thread called 'Greatest Buildings in Architectural History' then I would have written "A very great building".

Dude, (I bet you hate that word too) relax a little. I'm sure there are other threads where you're snootiness would be more appreciated.
I cant believe I actually have to explain this.

I think that I should put some nice smiley. I'm not snootiness, and I didn't want to offend you, there has been a misunderstanding.
I'm sorry, but let me tell you that you have to relax.

Fair enough.
Personally I think buildings such as the Pantheon are too great for words anyway.

What about something old, very, very old:

source: about.com

source: chess-theory.com

Only 140 meters, but looks like it could dwarf most buildings around 200 meters.
