Japan, as an entire society, is quite high-tech on the whole because of research and innovation efforts by its local companies.

futruristic not = high tech. we are talking about who looks futruristic, tokyo is huge, but the building is not impressive, shanghai has skyscrpaers like jinmao, WFC,even has meglev train. shanghai and hongkong for me is the most futruristic city in asia.

Well it just says "most futuristic city" not "what city looks the most futuristic" -.-"

It's a completely subjective thing because none of us have any idea what the future will actually be like, for all we know there could be world war three and every city will end up looking like Kabul or Baghdad. How 'futuristic' a city looks is as good a justification to use as any.

Simply put, to me futuristic means The Way It Is Good To Follow. So my vision of futuristic city is:

technologically advanced so...
self-sustainable - makes own energy, recycling...
ecological - does not pollute water, air
Infrastructure - based on public transport, bicycles and pedestrians
cultural - people just do not work, shop, sleep but they live culturally.
spacious - city is not overcrowded, full of parks and places to rest and enjoy life

In current world I think that probably only some Dutch and Scandinavian cities are somewhat near to my definition of futuristic city.

But of course it's quite utopy. In real world the future is probably overcrowded polluted city with 50 million inhabitants from which most are poor workers. Big scrapers with Corporate neons and laser ads filling night sky, uniform blocks of flats for workers and big dark dirty ghettos and slums. All of this filled with gigantic shopping malls.

I divide garbage into 34 kinds in kamikatsu-cho. In addition, there is the structure that even an old person works. A visitor visits here from the world.

As for the ecology, Earthship is splendid.

But i don't think Dubai. ( was there 2 times and like it a lottttttttt !! ) Dubai is a very " exciting " , very " cozy and livable " city, but the most "futuristic " title goes to Tokyo

Tokyo wins this title
Chinese cities and Japanese cities are the most futuristic all over the world
considering that China is still a developing country
It is no doubt that China will win this title!
besides HongKong and Shanghai
I would like to present my lovely Beijing
it will have some super-futuristic buildings before 2008.08.08

is this UFO?

TVCC and CCTV

SOHO series

this is almost finished

People enter the theatre under the water

SOHO series

of course the Bird Nest

Water Cube

the new airport

DANGDAI MOMA

thought it is not suitable to post so many underconstructional pics
and before 2015 Beijing will have 19 lines of subways
the total length will be 560km
but all of these will be OK before 2008.08.08
then Beijing will be a futuristic and historic city!
