Singapore is a good example of a futuristic city. Dubai just made me throw up in my mouth.

This is true. I think Singapore is the best option. a lol about Dubai, i agree.

I do not understand the criteria for this thread... because places like London have some of the most futuristic and modern skyscrapers in the world but it is by no means a "futuristic" looking City - there is too much history and buildings with historical value, much like NYC.

If one is talking about a futuristic city by means of infrastructure - well this changes everything. By visual i do not think there is a very futuristic looking City.

It depends on how you like to look at the future. Because, if you think of it as a bright future, where cities become green and aesthetically beautiful, you may think of something that will look like Singapore. But if you think of the future cities as crowded, decadent, dark, sordid and yet bright and modern ones, you may think they will look something like Hong Kong.

In my opinion Hong Kong isn't ugly, its amazing. I don't think future cities will be like Singapore, because in the future there will be more people, and the cities will be bigger and crowded. Singapore and Hong Kong are amazing cities.
Also, what's bad about Dubai? Its because its arab? Its because you have envy? Its because of the petrodollars (6% of their money)?

Who said that Dubai is bad city? I think that Dubai is ver amazing and awesome. Also it is one of the most futuristic cities in my opinion. And it is one of my most favorite cities as well
But the weather at summer is VERY hot. It is Dubai's one of the biggest disadvantages

Dubai is an ugly city. The architecture is terrible and the buildings look like theyre built of wood and plaster.

Well the Burj Khalifa is NOT made of wood. OR plaster, for that matter. Have you even travelled outside your home country? I have, and in my opinion all the cites I've been to are described as exactly the opposite of what you're saying

100% aggree, i think that american cities are overrated because of their CBD, but a well developped city is not just about the CBD. It's also about density, public spaces, infrastructures (that lacks in northern america) ... thats why Asians cities are the most futuristic (Tokyo being the most advanced), and that's why European cities are so much developped than US cities (even if they have less bluehyperglossyglsassyskyscrapers in their ultramegacentralized CBD's ...)

Is this a thread about the most futuristic photos of cities or about some most futuristic city? Because there are lots of futuristic-looking photos of cities that are not futuristic at all. You know, you can make any city look futuristic if you know how to photograph and you are good at it, maybe with a little postprocessing, but that does not makes the city futuristic... I could show you photos of Bratislava that look futuristic although it could NEVER be a futuristic city.

I don't think that there actually is any futuristic city in the world. Every city lacks something. For me, the traffic of a futuristic city should be handled by the public transport, but, paradoxly, in the most of the western cities, I have not found a sufficient public transport. A public transport for me means the baseline of metro or subway or underground or however you want to call it with support of trams, buses and regional trains. In cities like Paris, London and other are trams more like metro lines built where you can't build a metro. However, that is bad. A tramway should be a faster alternative for buses in the city center, mainly because its higher capacity. It should connect many metro stations and it should stop more frequently than metro. A metro, however, should stop every 1km, maybe less in the city center, but not less than 500m(it takes time to descend into underground, plus waiting time, it should not take longer for you to take a metro from one station to the next than walking). It is a "rapid transit", so it should be rapid, fast, so the lines should be as straight as possible. Paris and London metros are the best examples of how to not build a metro. It is slow and sometimes you can see the next stop from a platform of previous. But that is because they are the oldest metro/subway in the world. Buses should be mainly in the suburbs, where you don't have too much people travelling by public transit, because one bus can transport up to 150 people, which is a very small number when compared to a tram, that could bear up to 500 people and metro which is for 1500-2000 people.
Also, a futuristic city can have a historic center, why should it not have? It should have modern architecture, but why not historic architecture? Why not historic architecture combined with the modern? I like London because of this. The historic and modern architecture is nicely combined there. Also, it has to have lots of parks and green spaces. In this terms Paris wins followed by London.
