Christianshavn is a cozy part of Copenhagen with canals and many old buildings. The spire of The Church of Our Savior is seen in sticking up in the background.

Christianshavn's Canal.

Christian's Church was built by the Germans in 1759. Here it's seen behind some modern apartment buildings. It was originally called Frederik's German Church, but the name was changed, so as not to get it mixed up with Frederik's Church (The Marble Church).

More of Christianshavn with Christian's Church sticking up behind the buildings.

The 89 m. tall Church of Our Savior is the perfect place to get a view of the city. The church was finished in 1696. The view is truly magnificent from up there, but this was actually the first time I went up there (shame on me!).

I really like this picture. Too bad the weather was starting to turn bad and that they are doing some renovation work on Christiansborg Palace at the moment. Anyway, you can see several of Copenhagen's old buildings, Christiansborg Palace, Børsen (Stock Exchange), Church of Our Lady, Saint Peter's Church, and the Telecom Tower from 1950 in the background.

Zooming out... In this picture you can actually see Denmark's tallest highrise, the 120 m. tall hospital in Herlev, all the way back, a little to the right.

View towards Town Hall Square with the 106 m. tall City Hall Tower in the middle. You can also see Frederiksberg City Hall to the left, the Falconer Hotel, as well as the tower of Palace Hotel.

In this picture you can see some of the highrises, Codanhus, Scandic Hotel, Radisson SAS Royal Hotel as well as the two ciry hall towers (Frederiksberg & Copenhagen). The Black Diamond dominates the foreground.

View towards Frederiksstaden with Frederik's Church clearly visible. In the foreground you can see the old hydrofoil terminal where you could take the boat to Malmö before the bridge was built.

View towards Ørestad. Still a lot of activity out there, but Ferring looks kind of lonely. It needs some friends of height to play with!

View towards the West, mainly Vesterbro and Frederiksberg, where Domus Vista is easily seen, but also the Zoo Tower and Frederiksberg Castle.

Next part will cover (some parts of) Christiania.

Whoops, you accidentally gave yourself away there... So you're Swedish, I see... Maybe it's the way you relay your opinion that bothers people......

@DenverDane: Another great photo set. I guess you have to view Grundtvigskirken in real life to have any idea of how it fits in with the surroundings. I haven't, so I'll play it neutral. My favourite church in Copenhagen is Frederikskirken, both from the outside and inside. Too bad it's not the cathedral in Copenhagen, but Our Lady is not all that bad on the inside. I hope you made it inside there. The room is large yet still a little cozy with Thorvaldsens statues too big to be fitted inside the holes (what's the real word for those?).

Flintholmen station looks kinda cool but it's a mess to move around in my humble opinion.

I felt like sharing a picture from last summer I took of the famous Dane Knud Rasmussens statue. It shows the moment just before sunrise with Sweden in the background.

If you at that scene turn your head to the left you'll witness Strandvejen (the Beachroad) take a turn with Arne Jacobsens Bella Vista just behind it. To the right of Bella Vista is the Bellevue theatre. In front of the road is the famous Bellevue beach.

Grundtvigskirken is. though not pretty, not without its charm...Also for me, its somewhat of a family church, as it was where my brother was both married and later barried a few years ago...So i have been there a few times....

About frederikskirken, i feel almost the same....I big and not like the others, but i dint really find it beautiful on the inside....Or, maybe, im not sure...But i prefer both "vor frue kirke" and Christiansborgs Slotskirke....Both are very beautiful on the inside, more then frederiks kirken, IMO...

Let's just say that the tracking system I set up proved to be very effective.... You'll probably deny it, but the important thing is that we both know I'm right.

Well done
Didn't really surprise me that he's swedish though, in fact, I could probably come up with the name of a swedish guy who would want to bash Copenhagen.

Don't hold it against the Swedes, though... Most of them are very nice! Every country's got its unfortunate specimens...

I would never do such a thing.

Personally, I like our Swedish neighbours, despite the fierce debates we're having every now and then.
Scandinavians are proud, and for a good reason too.

@Cafo: Nice pictures! It's good to see that it's not only Finland that can have beautiful sunrises/sunsets.

Time to show some rarely seen parts of Copenhagen... I'm talking about Christiania, which was settled by hippies in the 1970's where they formed their own little community. Now it's become a tourist attraction too...

Many of the buildings look very run down, but this building actually houses a fancy restaurant called Spiseloppen. The foreground shows a playground with "non-standard" parts.

There are small stands and booths where you can buy food and souvenirs, for instance, tee-shirts.

You immediately notice the smell of hashish when you walk around Christiania. The "official" stand is that pot is okay, but hard drugs are not!

A view down Pusher Street where it's generally not accepted to take pictures.

Some of the wall paintings are quite impressive.

A formally dressed statue decorating the gardens.

They even have their own stage! There's also another more famous venue known as Den grå Hal (The Gray Hall) where bands like Faithless, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, and many more have performed.

The exit sign...

Hehe, is Bastionen really a "rarely seen" part of Copenhagen? I mean, Pusherstreet did feature on Kraks and all.

And they have one of the more famous (yet semi-shitty) venues in all of Copenhagen, Loppen.

Nice pictures as always, though! Love what you're doing here. I should post some pictures of my area. Could be cool if all the Copenhageners portrayed the areas they live in. And other people too

Loppen is classic. I went to a Non Phixion & Masta Ace concert there last summer.
