looks interesting.... for dubai pity its mirror glass though...who's the architect?
Just a small concern here....if everyone lives in gated communities drives to work drives home never leaves their resort like condo's apart from to drive to the shops because thats about the only thing they can do. Does anyone ever really walk around these towers? I would be surprised if they do...just a thought when doing these renders. |

as per the newpapers this project is approved
logically thinking, this one cannot be affected by any height restriction dcci is 90m tall and national bank of dubai 125m this one here is next door and is not much taller than dcci, maybe 30m taller hence, when there is the national bank of dubai, why should a tower of the same height be not allowed on this plot?

It hasnt started yet, thats for sure....
Good point, Dennis, it doesnt seem to be much taller than the existing chamber of commerce. It must be in the final planning stages. Well thats what I am secretly hoping for, anyway. ![]()

![]() never think reasonable concerning those restrictions. they do no allow a 300m tower close to the ET, but a 1km tower 2km further down. |

well what happened was that we now know its a 2 tower complex....quite high for the area...since the allowed limit is 17-20. EoIs issued for Dubai chamber of commerce The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has invited expressions of interest (EoIs) by 17 September from about eight Dubai-based contractors for its second Deira building complex project. The scheme, expected to go for tender in early 2007, will see the construction of a 20-storey and a 27-storey tower at the existing DCCI site. Both will be linked by a podium to the chamber’s current building. In addition, a three-storey car park, with space for a 1,000 vehicles, will be built on the opposite side of Baniyas road and will be connected to the main complex by an air-conditioned, moving walkway contained in a new footbridge. The architectural consultant is US-based Gensler Associates; the UK’s EC Harris is the project manager. R |

great, i just hope they keep the design since it is pretty awesome, those would interact together quite good, like the ET or Al Fattan.

Gensler to design Dubai Chamber of Commerce
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has selected international architect, Gensler, to design a 140,000m2 campus within its existing headquarters. The two new towers on the site will be 21 and 26 storeys high and will be linked to the main chamber by a bridge. Consisting primarily of two towers (27 and 21 storeys high), as well as a multi purpose hall, car parking and a bridge link to the main chamber, the scheme will act as a destination hub for DCCI’s 79,000 members, allowing new companies to take office space in the building, and offer support to the organisation with new business facilities. Work on site is expected to start in the first quarter of 2007 and tenders have not yet been sent out for the contract. “This building, combined with an efficient site-planning strategy, creates a cohesive DCCI identity and address, reflecting the organisation’s stature and adding value to its core services. It represents a long-term solution and will set the regional benchmark for new buildings to come”, said project director, Philip Gillard. The new scheme aims to give the DCCI a marketable property that will help reinforce its brand in a competitive market. To maximise letting potential, services and support functions are located outside the prime floor-plate allowing easy subdivision into smaller 93m2 tenancies or lettings of 1,858m2. The building will be constructed using energy efficient materials, minimising life cycle of maintenance costs. Gensler is a global architecture, design, planning, and consulting firm. It has 2,400 employees and 32 offices worldwide, including Dubai. Some of the firm’s recent projects in the Middle East include the DIFC master plan, the Gate Building, the new Ritz Carlton Hotel in Dubai and the new headquarters for Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.
