No, it will be a brand new one on Jalan Pinang. A while ago someone posted news that it will be complete by 2008 or 2009.

Grand Hyatt Hotel KL to open in 2009
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hyatt Group to finally have KL hotel in 2009 By VASANTHA GANESAN April 22 2005 AFTER waiting more than a decade, the Hyatt Group will finally have a hotel in Kuala Lumpur in 2009. The Hyatt Group is expected to operate a 450-room five-star Grand Hyatt in Jalan Pinang, next to the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur, industry sources said. They told Business Times that the hotel will be owned by the Brunei Investment Agency and a locally-incorporated private company. The 50-storey building will include a hotel, service apartments and an office complex. Owners of the hotel were not available for comment. A Hyatt Group hotel, the Grand Hyatt Duta, was to have been completed in 1997. Until today, the hotel at the corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang remains partly completed. Kuala Lumpur Landmark Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Olympia Industries Bhd, was given the contract to develop the RM570 million Grand Hyatt Duta in 1994. Mycom Bhd, the holding company of Olympia, then teamed up with Kuala Lumpur Landmark to develop a 52-storey building to house its headquarters and the hotel. However, construction was halted in July 1998, when the group encountered financial difficulties during the 1997/98 economic downturn. An industry source said the Hyatt Group is no longer associated with Mycom. Both Mycom and Olympia are Practice Note 4 companies. Their shares are not suspended, but are under trading restriction. The Hyatt Group also operates the Hyatt Regency Kinabaluh, Hyatt Regency Johor Baru and Hyatt Regency Kuantan. The Hyatt Hotel Management Ltd, which has been involved with the Hyatt Regency Saujana in Subang since 1986, announced recently that it had mutually agreed with the hotel owner Saujana Consolidated Bhd to terminate the management agreement with effect from April 30 this year. It is believed that the Hyatt Group discussed the possibility of building a Park Hyatt in the Bukit Bintang area in Kuala Lumpur. Sources said the deal did not materialise. |

I don't think they have any $$$ to give away in the first place. "Practice Note 4 companies" doesn't sound so promising...

Why they spend their budget on building another new building of Grand Hyatt, but not using those money to resume the current halted Grand Hyatt Duta??

Seed & Pablo > The hotel management and the owner are different.
Let's put it this way.......Seed is the hotel building owner and Pablo is a hotel management company called 'Grand Hotel Company International'. Last time Seed signed an agreement for Pablo to manage his hotel but in the end his hotel couldn't be completed. So Pablo would naturally be angry so he would have to terminate his agreement with Seed. So another company owned by TYW is building a hotel in KL and asked Pablo's Grand Hotel to manage his. So Pablo agreed and signed the agreement. So let say if Seed managed to complete his building the same time as TYW's, the hotel for Seed wouldn't be Grand Hotel but TYW's would be ![]() This is the same case happening to the saga above

no lah....if you did finish (or near completion)......chances that you'll be able to get someone to manage it for ya. If not then start a hotel management company yourself loh like what quite a number of hotels in Malaysia did (examples: Sunway Lagoon Resort, Palace of the Golden Horses, Mutiara Beach Resort, Royale Bintang...etc ...etc....etc)

You could have it as self-managed or that you could rope in another hotel chain ....its up to the hotel owners actually Doesn't mean that self-managed that people would have to buy over and rename it.......people can't buy over Seed Hotel if you dun sell it mah ![]() Let me give you another example: The old HIlton KL along Jalan Sultan Ismail are built and owned by PERNAS International in 1971. They got Hilton International to manage the hotel thus it is named KL Hilton for 3 decades until the agreement ends in sometime 2002 ( I dun remember the dates well....could be earlier ) when Hilton moved out and Pernas own Mutiara hotel management managed the hotel (the same company which manages the Mutiara Beach Resort at Batu Ferringi). So it is named Mutiara KL for 2 years until they got Crowne Plaza to managed the hotel. Since the owners are still Pernas and that they would like to retain the Mutiara name (although not managed by Mutiara anymore).....the hotel had been renamed as the Crowne Plaza Mutiara Hotel
