I personally like the design. Looks a bit like those towers in mainland China, but the height...40 storeys?? Quite disappointing.
where ??

But why on earth they use coconut trees in the rendering...a beach resort within the city?

The Seattle office of international destination design firm Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) is the design architect for the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, a 40-storey five-star hotel and mixed-use development in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One of the more notable design features of the project will be the hotel lobby. Instead of being on the ground level, it will be at the top of the building. When guests enter the building to check in, they will ride the express lifts to the lobby where impressive 360-degree views of downtown Kuala Lumpur will greet them. The building will also hold service apartments and offices. The contemporary hotel is currently in the design development phase, and is scheduled to open to the public in December of 2010. Since its founding in 1945, WATG has specialized in hospitality, leisure and entertainment design from its offices worldwide.

Grand Hyatt is an upmarket luxury hotel and the room numbers are rather big, 400-800 rooms, usually business hotels in the big cities, eg. Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Singapore, Hong Kong, New York, Shanghai, etc. There are also Grand Hyatt resorts in Bali.

Park Hyatt is rather small-ish boutique luxury hotel, 80-200 rooms. They tend to be smaller, more personalised, and very very expensive. There are a few number of Park Hyatt in the world, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, and Dubai comes to mind.

There are also other Hyatt, such as Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, or Hyatt Summerfield Suites, which has lesser star or luxury ratings.

Design Updates (2008):

Saw the latest design under review. Some changes made and here's the good news. A silver spire is added to the tower, making it stands at 300m high, beating the four season and lot c. The claddings r partially gold unlike previous rendering. The tower now looks slimmer a bit but maintain its boxy layout.
