this is lake city to be made by lake city holdings, a new joint venture between many industrialists in pak. it is on about 2,000 acres.

bahria towns lake city is about 25 times bigger then this and is more like a city, it will be made on 50,000 acres in north east lahore, just a few miles from the airport. this will be an extremly luxary project with huge parks, malls, high riseres, and a big amusement park. It would be launched end of 2006.

I'm not sure what the weather would be like around Lake City, but people in Punjab would surely appreciate those Cali style houses.

I'd love to see such housing projects being built in the new upcoming Pakistani port city of Gwadar, it overlooks the Arabian Ocean, and has the perfect weather.

Great projects for Pakistan. But isn't that a bit over the top for such a poor country? I would have guessed providing for the vast poor majority the basics first before spending billions on such projects aiming at the rich only.

Pakistan is not all that poor, its a developing country. There's a saying about Pakistan -- "The Gov. might be poor, but the people are Rich", and it does apply.

In recent years, the country has experienced good economic growth, the middle class has grown and is growing, a recent visit to Pakistan can further strenghten that claim.

Now that the middle class is growing, you can see a lot of new cars ply on the road, and due to that, the automobile industry has grown by leaps and bounds. BMW, Mercedes, and other car manufacturers are planning to establish plants in different cities around Pakistan to meet the local demands of the growing market. Porsche has opened up its sales offices, and they're doing good, all they need now is Ferari .

To get a car in Pakistan, you'd have to wait six months, thats how big the demand is.

The current administration in Islamabad has opened up the country to foreignners, and foreign investment, more companies are investing there, people are getting jobs = middle class grows = people buy cars, houses, etc.

And offcourse there are poor people in Pakistan too, who can't afford a day's meal, but economic prosperity can't come overnight, it takes years. I'm sure as the economy grows, those people would see a better life style in the coming years.

Whoa.. I guess you could tone it down a bit. Calling someone an 'ignorant fool', who complements your country is not a good move at all.

The way you responded to harkerb was a bit harsh.

Please calm down.

This is being done by a private country and poverty in Pakistan might be high but it is definetly not how you think it is.

there is a mistake in the first post about the project details, it says cost of project is 1 billion, but that is actully the annual turnover of the company, lake city holdings. the cost of lake city, lahore is way past a billion dollars.
