2.5 voters.. that's quite amazing. How many are needed?
About the computer parts: I think the most of everything at the nearest place for everyone at all the time is the best for all people anyway. Edit: damage control

There are 2 of them, wafer thin and they look unfinished with the facade like that. What BAD TASTE to even use them as examples! |

I need to find a blush smiley
Thanks WH and co.Didn't mean to hijack the thread from CJS. I agree a new tallest would look good in CBD but as the others have said - it looks very unlikely.

As far as the Sg forums is concerned, starting a thread here will not guarantee that your thread will not be hijacked.
![]() I have to congratualate my new PM btw. Do you have a picture? I am worried I wont be able to recognise you when you pass my by, and I fear I will be put to death for failing to salute you! ![]() Well anyway that topic has been debated for over 70 posts already, so I think most of us need to take a break on this topic for now.

Should Singapore have a super-tall observation tower?
Should Singapore have a super-tall observation tower?
I've seen a rendering of a TV Tower on Fort Canning. But what happened to it? The Sky Tower is so short ,so is the Merlion Tower.I think that the govt should make an exception ,and build an observation tower that is more than 400m tall ,if possible. It'll be the newest and most famous landmark in Singapore. Here's an imaginary tower: An observation tower called the Miles Tower ,for its namesake ,exceeds 1000m tall ,and if possible ,1600m.It would have three pods ,at 400m+ ,800m+ ,and exactly at 1000m. On top of the second pod at the height of 800m+ would be an outdoor observation deck. The pod would also hold banquet decks ,restaurants ,bars ,lounges and a small shopping floor ,where people can enjoy the scenery and shop at the same time.A small 5-star hotel would operate on two floors in that pod. At the highest pod ,and also the smallest ,would be an observation deck situated at exactly 1000m from the base of the tower. The pod would also have a small bar ,lounge and an exclusive club at the topmost floor.Just imagine the view from up there ,feeling literally on the top of the world. What if that monster was built right here?Perhaps we do not have the technology now ,but it could be possible in the not-too-distant future. It would be the tallest structure in the world.

i dont think it is too important to have the tallest tower in the world... has not much meaning now that there are so many wtbs that having one no longer guarantees fame... i think it's more important to have architecturally amazing structures... regardless of height or size... that would really draw attention.... but a super tall tower wouldnt hurt of course (unless it's designed like the euro-asia building - that would be murder)

In fact, i think it would pretty much spoil the skyline. I mean, it would just stickout into the sky. Eek...
Maybe one that isn't so tall....

It works to plant it on top of Fort Canning......that way, it dosent need to be built so tall to be tall.
![]() Or.,....maybe they shd plant that 400metre one on Bukit Timah hill instead? It wont spoil the skyline, is outside the flight path of planes, and it will be an icon that can be seen nationwide!

If Singapore wants to at all costs, it can easily build the world's tallest thing.
Anyway I dont think we need one now, since we're gonna get the Singapore Flyer and if thats ready I am sure will be heavily publicized. I do agree that Fort Canning Hill is a suitable site for an observation tower as it was proposed before. |

Yes, it is possible that a 1000m high tower would be tall enough to be seen rom every part of Singapore. That would be amazing!!!
Look out your window ans see this huge needle pointing into the sky.
