they could have made the wheel a lil more interesting...the rendition of the one comin up in Vegas is kinda neat. It's awesome to have a 'wheel' in Singapore but it is too plain, almost identical to the temporary wheel in Kuala Lumpur.

Besides the wheel itself, there will be a range of activities planned within the podium, which walks out into the Gardens and is a stroll away from the Esplanade and the future Integrated Resort as well as the future MRT station.

This stretch of Singapore, seldom walked by visitors, will open up a new dimension of the cityscape/bayscape to them.

I cant wait till they remove those thick booms on the wheel - then it would really look elegant and like it was floating by the water's edge, like a gigantic piece of urban art installation.

I think the singapore's wheel is cool coz u there is goin to be a tropical garden in the middle of the base. This is also where the passengers will go onboard and alight. So they get to touch some real trees and grass.

Has anyone noticed that the Singapore Flyer's structure does not have a double ring of trusses, and is just an ultra thin ribbon of metal? Thats a first for ferris wheels.

Yeah you can get an idea of what the finished structure looks like with the single thin ring without the steel booms at night........because everything is dark so only the white rim stands out. Looks very slim and glamorous for a wheel.

This image refreshes itself every so often. Now, the latest progress.

The construction booms (spokes) holding up the wheel are being removed.
