Are all of the terminals connected via some sort of people mover or rail?

logplan

Madrid Barajas Airport (Spain)
2000 - present

In 2000, Logplan began providing technical consulting services to the Spanish Airport Authorities (AENA) for the development and implementation of the APM system for Madrid Barajas Airport. The service included bid evaluation, supplier selection and project management for the implementation and certification of the system. The system has operated successfully since it opened for revenue service in 2006 with an expected peak hour capacity of 6,500 passengers per hour per direction.

Logplan has provided the entire project management including, scheduling, systems facilities development, implementation and technical verification of all system and subsystem units. During the Design Review phase, Logplan ensured that the supplier design met all technical specification requirements and verified that compliance with applicable national and international codes were maintained.

Logplan is currently providing optimization and oversight services for the operation and maintenance of the APM system.

Bombardier CX-100 APM - Barajas International Airport , Madrid , Spain

In early 2006, the first driverless transit system in Spain, and the longest airport people mover (APM) in Europe, will begin transporting passengers between a new terminal and a new satellite terminal at Madrid's Barajas International Airport. Deploying the Bombardier CITYFLO 550 automatic train control technology, the system will be the only mode of transportation for passengers between the two terminals, which are spaced more than two kilometres apart.

Bombardier was the full turnkey supplier for the completely underground system, including the construction of the civil works, and will operate and maintain the APM when it begins passenger service.

In 2008, the reliable CX-100 technology will be deployed at Beijing Capital International Airport as part of the Airport’s major expansion project for the 2008 Olympics. The new Beijing APM will feature 11 CX-100 vehicles, and CITYFLO 550 automatic train control.

Big bump...

From today, you can discuss everything about Madrid Barajas Airport in this thread to reestablish its presence on this forum. Not to mention, I will continue moving stuff related to MAD from other Spanish airport threads within this forum onto this thread to establish its strong presence. That way, discussions on MAD's current and future developments can be made in one roof.

There are plenty of connections between MAD and NRT/HND via AMS, CDG, LHR, FRA, MUC, HEL, FCO, IST, DXB, DOH... most of them more direct than via HKG.

I like this airport. only an unpleasant detail: the number of people bugging at the terminal before cheking offering packaging services illegally.
