And a few from 340owners.com

Where Tides will be located, some site prep work going on as it'll be the next tower to go up since it is a rental unit

Is that a temporary park and will have a building built on it when the time comes, or is it just a sad looking park?

No, it is permanent and rather large, although there was talk of putting the school in one of the corners but that idea seems to have been abandoned.

The reasons it looks so sad right now are:
1) It's March, it's pretty cold (mild winter however), so there's no much activity going on in parks usually and because many of the towers are still UC.
2) The leaves on the trees are dead, and the trees themselves will take years to mature and really make an effect.
3) Last summer there was very little rain so only the most watered grass survived and everything else became yellow.

Go back to the first page and scroll down and see the pictures of the park in the summer. It is actually quite nice both in daylight and in the evening.

Also, we can finally release info on

Aqua
83 floors
835 feet

Designed by Studio Gang

It is an extension of the Fairmont Hotel across the street and includes retail, rental apartments, and condominiums.

In the SOM masterplan this tower is one of two that will be the tallest in the entire development.

Here are the renderings in a scanned article from the Chicago Tribune:

I will change the first page accordingly.

How many towers are there for this Lake front project? seems like alot of huge ones.

Only about 3,000 more skyscrapers to you catch up to NYC.

About 16 towers in the masterplan as well as a market place and school. In terms of # of towers, Central Station is actually bigger.

Nice pics and thank you. My God...the Aon Center's encompassing towers are going to overtake the Hancock as my most favorite area of skyscrapers. Can't wait until Aqua goes up.

^Mandarin Oriental will keep it nice company And don' forget that in the masterplan there is another tower that should be similar to Aqua's height and just directly south of it.

From 340owners.com

1/2 of 340's floors are now completed, it will only be a matter of weeks before it is taller than its neighbors

This model tower is so tall that they had to saw off some of the table legs just to fit it!

In other news, I found out what those little lights on top of the markers are for

Residents who want a taxi can call the doorman who operates the lights from his desk for passing cabs to see

These are some beautiful quality buildings. I'm so proud of my Chicago. I'm so overwelmed with it's developments.

Regular updates of 340 from 340owners. Floor 36

I don't think I ever gave a proper introduction to Aqua (with all renderings).
Aqua is 83 floors and 823 ft
All renderings to this point

Lakeshore East updated their official neighborhood map. It's a bit small so it's hard to read the height numbers, but those are all measured wrong and you can find the accurate ones on the first page.

Shows the market, future developments, and Aqua's HUGE base/park
