That has no bearing on the developer, I'm afraid. Beetham sold every single apartment in this building before it was even built. That's an immense success. That the market is getting cold feet afterwards or that buy-to-let investors might not have let every unit is inconsequential to Beetham.

I don't think one quarter is that bad considering the market. That must mean its 75% full. I think that's quite good.

This is a great building for Manchester. I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself, one day!

what makes it even more great now is that fact it could be the only 'official' skyscraper in the UK outside the capital for many many years now. Quite sad really for a country like the UK.Manchester should be proud of this now.

Well you could include Portsmouth's Spinnaker but that's an observation tower. Bloody cool though.

Stuff like Blackpool tower and Spinnaker and great structures, but are not really skycrapers,as for Eastgate/Piccadilly lets hope work continues ,but its likely it will go the same way as Lumiere IMO.Thank god Beetham got built in time.

Finally seen this beast, drove past it while going to the airport, what struck me the most is how lonely it is, it looks really out of place, all the tall buildings appeare to be 3-5 miles away from it. Not that impressed by it tbh, from a distance, i thought whoa 10/10 that looks good, closer inspection, the cladding looks a bit plasticky and cheap, and im really hoping Lumiere (if it finally meets construction) doesnt have that cladding. The top part of Beetham, looks stupid, that big board on top of it, what is it for, looks so out of place.

Score 5/10

Lumiere doesn't have the random cladding of Beetham. The smaller tower will be slightly red too, and there won't be the change in cladding as there is no change between hotel and apartments.
