8 - the cladding is wonky, and its ineffect a slab, but the overhang and the sheet height of it sitting proud above Manchester marks it out. And bearing in mind lack of progress of Lumiere / Criterion Place on Leeds and the Mirax/Jumeriah Tower in London, its actually evidence of a completed Ian Simpson scheme!

I was reading on wikipedia that from the top of the Manchester one you can see as far as the West Midlands and Shropshire, it shocked me becasuse the distance is nearly 90miles apart

Staffordshire is in the West Midlands "Region", so it probably means Cheadle!!
The curvature of the Earth would not allow you to see anything further than 35 miles away (unless land in the far distance was very high or mountains) ... if the structure was extremely tall you would see further, but then it would need to be a MILE high and not 600 feet!! |
