According to the MH PWD, the highest volume of traffic is present on the Sion Panvel Highway. Incidentally, this is a Special State Highway and not an NH.

This is a very welcome road for Mumbai, though, because the city has already densified here and many people didn't think it was possible to build an east- west link road here cutting through the city.
Google Eart imagery suggest it's a 2x2 elevated highway that ends into a surface street south of the airport.

They had to demolish over 3,000 dwellings for the link road. They originally had the right-of-way since 1987 but many buildings were build on it anyway.

India Times:
The SCLR comprises 1.8km long double-decker flyover above the Central Railway's main line and Harbour line tracks.

Are there any photos of this "double-decker flyover" ?

Chris, I'd agree the 3rd level road can be considered a freeway (non-tolled expressway) as there is no pedestrian access at this level and it's grade-separated as well.

A few more pics of this Santa Cruz - Chembur link road-

Bangalore

The 23 km tolled Airport Expressway in Bangalore was completed earlier this year.
It forms part of NH7 (national highway 7) or AH43 (Asian highway 43) in northern Bangalore, and connects the International Airport at Devanahalli with Hebbal.
The expressway continues onto NH7 / AH43 as Bangalore Outer Ring Road and also has an interchange with NH4 / AH47.

Couldn't they replant it elsewhere? We replanted a 17 meter high tree to make way for a road...

Baltal Tunnel

Several media report there's going to be an 11 kilometer road tunnel at Baltal (National Highway 1D from Srinagar to Leh).

About the expressway

This green field expressway shall be based on minimum distance formula having the potential of providing a smooth link from Greater Noida to Lucknow. Hence the journey time from Greater Noida to Lucknow via Agra covering about 530 km, presently consumes time of around 9 hours would now drastically be reduced to 5 hours. Likewise the 6 hours journey of 365 km between Agra and Lucknow would reduce to around 3.30 hours through this proposed Expressway. UPEIDA has been nominated as nodal agency.

In order to maintain Ecological balance a large numbers of trees would be planted for retaining the rain water in the field. Suitable techniques of rain harvesting shall also be adopted to raising ground water level. Eco-friendly parks shall be developed along the expressway for neutralizing air and noise pollution and maintaining ecological balance owing to this expressway. Further, to maintain greenery and abundant water supply Lakes and Ponds shall be developed on both sides of proposed Agra-Lucknow expressway.

There was some discussion going on here about an airport access expressway with a planned signposted speed limit of 180 km/h. What about that one?

I think you are talking about the expressway connecting the Mumbai International Airport called SEAR or Sahar Elevated Access Road, which connects the Western Express highway with the new terminal 2. As for the speed limit of 180 kmph, I think an over enthusiastic, over nationalistic forumer might have gone a little overboard

I think it could also be the KIA-Hebbal expressway.

KMP Expressway

New agency to complete stalled KMP expressway in Haryana

A new agency will be roped in by the Haryana government for the completion of the stalled Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway in the state, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Saturday.

The the nearly Rs.1,900 crore, 135-km-long KMP expressway project, launched with much fanfare by the previous Congress government led by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has been delayed much beyond its completion deadline of December 2009.
Full report: http://news.webindia123.com/news/Art...7/2518626.html

The KMP Expressway is the western bypass of Delhi. Construction started in 2006, but progress has been very slow, the opening is already 5 years behind schedule.

Not really Thrissur Bypass. this is a part of 4/6 laned NH-47 which goes through thrissur as well along with Ernakulam and Palakkad districts of Kerala.

wrong. It is bypass. Initially NH was constructed initially through swaraj round. later this bypass constructed to reduce traffic. this bypass is used to bypass thrissur city to reduce traffic congestion in city . Moreover the above shown road is passing through thrissur city limit also.
