Climbing towards that 30 million mark with a 1.2 billion Euro expansion under construction to hold over 50 million a year, A leaf out of Dublin's book with U.S pre-clearance up and coming and possibly a 3rd runway down the line. (As well as new motorways to the airport, hotels and a business city)

2.7 million for September was great for Dublin, as was 2.9 million for Manchester this September also... Friendly competion with our neighbouring capital
Quite odd that traffic from UK to Ireland has gone off a cliff (down 7% YoY) yet as you say UK airports are seeing record growth. Sterling price has a lot to do with it but that doesn't explain why Spain was so popular this summer

I wouldn't be surprised if Manchester overtakes Dublin in the next few years, at least until DUB sorts out their capacity problems. The new runway will be a big help but terminal 3 and/or new piers and taxiways are going to be needed alongside it

Expected growth for the upcoming winter season 2017/2018
http://www.anna.aero/2017/10/25/xiam...rge-for-w1718/

As Air Berlin ceased operation yesterday there will be up to 250 daily flights less in Germany. Especially TXL, DUS and MUC will suffer until LH/EW and EZY will take over aircraft & routes.

Hi guys,
August data are here with few exceptions as always. Even though not as impressive as July, August brings pretty interesting results.

18 airports out of top 50 busiest established a new record of transported passengers. This is a decrease of 1 airports since last August, when 19 airports witnessed new monthly record.

On 12-month rolling basis:
DME returned above 30 million passengers
XIY become 49th airport to cross 40 million passengers, the big question is about the 50th (perhaps SVO)
VCE crossed 10 million line of transported passengers and its 4th busiest airport in Italy, after FCO, MXP and BGY, the same goes for LYS
DXB is keeping 3rd spot, crossing 87 million transported passengers

Other news:
Due to hurricane Harvey IAH ended up on 64th spot in August, with 16% decline in passenger traffic

Enjoy

In Italic and Underline are the new records (18 airports)

Graph showing growth and the size of the airport

AYT is missing in the graph, since the growth was 56%

#32 in August AYT (Antalya) growing by 55.86% to 4,220,004? What's behind that huge spike?

exactly, SVO is growing so much faster than CKG. Based on Sept YTD growth SVO is the only one to pass 40 million, assuming it keeps growing the same pace in the next 3 months.

It will be shortlived though, most of the large airports in China will see massive increase in passenger numbers in the next few years as the new mega airports come online in 2018-19, even smaller cities are building new huge airports or massively expanding existing ones. The government prediction is to triple the number of passengers in the next 15 years to almost 3 billion. CKG will probably handle 70-80 million passengers by 2025.

I would think that many North American and European airports will drop out of the top 50 as they are not expanding and the growth is very slow.

Most Russian airports are building new terminals with SVO and DME adding a terminal each in 2018 increasing both capacity to 55-50 mil.

Turkey will see a big increase with the opening with the mega hub in Istanbul as well.

India will keep speeding up even with lagging infrastructure.

Overall I think we will not see more than 30% in top 50 from North America and Europe combined in 2025, maybe even less.

So ~15 airports from north America/Europe in the top 50 by 2025? Possibly.

Spanish statistics datas of October have been published for all the AENA airports (this means all the important spanish airports and most of the non importants):

http://www.aena.es/csee/ccurl/10/569...tubre_2017.pdf

As always, first page is monthly data, and second page is 2017 data (Jan-Sep). On each page, first column shows pax, second column shows operations and third column shows goods carried.

ADOLFO SUÁREZ MADRID-BARAJAS 4.725.994 +4,6%
BARCELONA-EL PRAT 4.174.301 +3,9%

The summer ended and now the coastal airports moderate their grows, while the non coastal airports or some in the Canary Islands (BIO, SVQ, LPA) shoot up their grows.
BCN had the lowest increase since August of 2015 due to the politician disturbs, but luckily is still growing.

It has been suggested that I start to post my monthly passenger statistics for Manchester/MAN/EGCC on this thread. I hope that you find them to be of interest.

Manchester Statistics - September 2017 (Part 1)

Destinations that are either new (no passengers since my records started in January 2005), or have not been served for a number of years - if the latter then the month and year of the last service is shown.

No new routes to report - although Kiev (Borispol) appeared as a 'one off'.

Only one domestic statistic is currently missing from the CAA report for September.

Exeter is missing from the initial monthly statistics for September. In September 2016 the flown passenger figure for this route was 9,724.

Moving monthly and annual figures - based on CAA statistics

Monthly passengers - 2,867,212 + 7.4%
Annual Total- 21,752,889
Moving Annual Total - 27,643,286 + 11.3%

Monthly Movements - 19,197 + 6.7%
