At 9 billion pax which is a lot more than Planet Earth's entire population, they'll need a continent-sized airport complex.

Beijing Capital's passengers number is going up very fast!
Overtook HKG, count for whole city's manner, Shanghai is right after Beijing with a total of 46.01 million, then HKG of 44 million.

I always feel that how ignorant that some of the statistics show like what did Bitxofo put on the last page...they obviously trying Not to mention Beijing <> Shanghai route, do some research please, there are more than 140 flights both in between BJ and SH daily!

I am not going to call you ignorant but you are wrong, because you are counting different airports of the same city together (Shanghai)...

Anyway the statistics I posted are NOT mine, I was quoting another forumer.

I agree. CDG has phenomenal growth. It overtook Frankfurt International, and it will overtake London Heathrow aswell.

The mirth is not directed at your airport.
The target is your ridiculously hilarious figure of 9 billion. I'm sure its a mistake on your part; typo or otherwise.

Moscow airports data
Domodedovo - 15.370.000
Sheremetyevo - 12.764.000
Vnukovo - 5.100.000

total - 33.234.000
It's 4 different terminal projects under constrution (Sheremetyevo 1 - 5 mio pax. capacity, Sheremetyevo 3 - 10 mio pax. Vnukovo new terminal - 12-15 mio pax. Domodedovo terminal expansion. So 2-3 years later the whole Moscow airports traffic may increase to 50-55 mio....)
Gosh, i'm cryin' imagine one big airport instead of three

Perhaps you're forgetting that next year the 30 million pax. T5 will be opening? Heathrow had a lot of trouble with weather and cancelled flights this year and is practically at capacity.

It is not a mistake, he is using European numericals

9,600 million = 9.6 million to the rest of you

I guess there was no need to add more zeroes but it is done sometimes

I guess 9.6 m would be about right for Kiev.

My City: Dublin International Airport, Ireland-

Passengers per year: 21 million in 2006

Airlines and aircraft movements
Airlines: over 88
Total aircraft movements: 197,000 in 2006
Destinations: over 150
Type of flights: 88% scheduled, 12% charter

Top ten international destinations:
London
Paris
Manchester
New York
Birmingham
Frankfurt
Amsterdam
Malaga
Edinburgh
Glasgow

Stagnation at Heathrow is not due to terminal capacity, it's due to runway capacity. The fact that T5 will be opening soon won't change a thing to Heathrow passenger traffic. Only building a third runway would significantly change the situation, but it won't happen within the next 4 years, if it ever happens at all, so Paris CDG is set to overtake Heathrow by 2009-2010 at current growth rates.

I found passenger traffic figure for Amsterdam Schiphol in 2006: 46,062,111.

So now we can establish Europe's top 5 for 2006:
1- London Heathrow: 67,340,090 passengers
2- Paris CDG: 56,849,567
3- Frankfurt: 52,820,000
4- Amsterdam Schiphol: 46,062,111
5- Madrid Barajas: 45,530,010

7- Munich: 30,530,000 passengers
8- Barcelona El Prat: 30,008,152 passengers

I'm not so sure. Richard Rogers' massive Heathrow Terminal 5, which is larger than all current Heathrow terminals combined, will open next year. Mixed-mode runway operations will also allow Heathrow to expand runway capacity and Gordon Brown, who will take over as PM from Blair this summer, is very keen to add a new runway too. The old terminals 1-3 will make way for a massive Norman Foster designed "Heathrow East" terminal to open before the 2012 Olympics. If the 3rd runway is approved then a 6th terminal will likely accompany it. Of course there's no doubt that Heathrow is choked right now but these expansions are enormous. And there's no doubt that London will retain it's lead as the world's premier air hub. Heathrow already accounts for less than half of London's air traffic and the overall growth of London aviation has been far greater than Paris's in recent years. London's aviation sector is by far the most competitive, innovative, and profitable of any other city in the world.

2005 figures:

1 Aéroports de Paris 75 313 578 pax 6,6
2 Nice 9 344 532 " 2,2
3 Lyon 6 240 215 " 4,8
4 Marseille 5 756 038 " 7,3
5 Toulouse 5 612 559 " 5,8
6 Bordeaux 2 924 186 " 3,6
6 bis Bâle-Mulhouse * 2 545 667 " 2,4
7 Strasbourg 1 942 296 " -6,0
8 Nantes 1 938 400 " 1,7
9 Pointe-à-Pître 1 866 739 pax 6,0
10 Fort-de-France 1 614 876 " 6,3
11 Saint-Denis La Réunion 1 596 668 " 8,4
12 Tahiti-Faa'a 1 454 032 " -0,5
13 Beauvais 1 427 595 " 47,3
14 Montpellier 1 327 383 " -15,4

But in 2006 Nice has risen above 10 million passengers, Lyon above 7 million, and Marseille above 6 million. The latter will open a line to NYC, which might dramatically boost its frequentation.
