No problem The numbers in parenthesis indicate a percentage decrease compared to 2005 - and no parenthesis indicates an increase.

Hopefully once the multi-billion O'hare expansion is complete and the FAA restrictions are uplifted it will retake #1.

if I using your math... it will be like this:

New York JFK 42.6 + Newark 35.5 + New York LGA 25.8 = 103.9 rank #1
Tokyo HND 65.5 + Tokyo NRT 31.8 =97.3 rank 2
Hong Kong 44.0+Shenzhen 18.2 + Guangzhou 26.2 = 88.4 rank #3

The new intl. airport in Berlin

In the near future Berlin will get a huge new airport... The "Berlin Brandenburg International" (short=BBI) which will have space for about 40 million passengers, and can be supplemented continiously.
For more information look here: -->BBI Berlin airport thread in english
-->BBI Berlin airport thread in german
-->Constructions and Projects in Berlin

Quite cordial thanks for the attention.

Cairo isn't too far off the list at position #111, but we're unlikely to see any other African airports there for many years. JNB has been steadily moving upwards though.

Is it a plus to be higher on the list ? As an individual wanting to get from A to B I don't think so.

Lufthansa recently announced that it isn't going to establish in the new Berlin airport a hub & spoke system.

What about Cape Town? Surely the south african airports with our +10% growth will get there in the next 10 years?

No London would be #1 by far with 137 million pax pa. Chicago would be #4 as pointed out by Kngkyle. London's latest stats from the CAA:
http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/80/airport...Statistics.pdf

- London Heathrow = 67,146,262
- London Gatwick = 34,246,023
- London Stansted = 23,793,307
- London Luton = 9,367,743
- London City = 2,412,026
Total = 136,965,661
