Map of busiest airports in Asia

I hope this is the right thread to post this map. I recently posted it on the Dutch forum, but I hope it is interesting for others as well. Please let me know i you see any mistakes.

As there are so many airports in Southeastern Greater China, it didn't fit on the map in the same scale.

Nice, but I don't think Istanbul-Atatürk has 70.5 pax.

Thanks. Indeed, clearly I made a mistake here, as I copied the icon of Dubai airport and apparently I forgot to change the figure, which should be 57.0m for IST.

Figures for airports in Pakistan are factually incorrect - if these are being picked from Wikipedia, then that is unsubstantiated, someone has been unilaterally posting figures there

Pakistanian statistics are nightmare! Last official statistics comes from 2008-2009, since then nothing. Wikipedia itself is not a source unless there is a direct link or quotation.

The same goes Iraq, Bangladesh or Myanmar - hard to get any recent data.

BTW: I like the map! Its great!

So, not much influence on Incheon from MERS. Maybe in June?

The fight for the third place is very interesting. Nice to see Chicago still growing strongly. Seems to be the only airport offering any resistance to Dubai at the moment, now that Haneda has stopped growing.

DXB could break the 7 million barrier for the first time in August this year.

This year will also see EKs A380 wing fix finally completed so the four air-frames that are always taken out of service will be in the fleet, plus an additional 6 six more SJ to come this year, plus more 77Ws, and FlyDubai's 738's will give it high organic growth.

Yes, unfortunately all korean airports were hit by MERS in June, Seoul's numbers dropped to 3,3 mil (-9.4%), but it seems airlines are adjusting back the capacity, so the negative growth will not be that striking in future months

About the battle for the 3rd busiest in 2015, here is graph. The forecast is based on Jan-May % growth, changes are highly possible

Jan-May % growth
HND - 6,25%
ORD - 9,55%
LAX - 3,21%
LHR - 1,33%
DXB - 9,82%

Dubai International traffic reaches 5.9m passengers in June

Dubai, UAE – July 29, 2015 – Dubai International welcomed 5.9 million passengers in June according to the monthly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today.

Passenger traffic during June increased 16.7 per cent to 5,914,671, compared to 5,067,726 during the same month in 2014. The year to date traffic surged 10.4 per cent to reach 38,299,291, compared to 34,676,090 during the first half of 2014. The increase in traffic during June can be attributed to the runway refurbishment project between May and July last year during which the airport was reduced to a single runway operation. The surge in traffic was countered by a drop in number of passengers during the holy month of Ramadan which fell in June this year.

I did not expect this to happen in June, but Atlanta airport, as the first airport in the world, handled more than 9 milion passengers in a single month!

The exact number is 9 035 794 passengers. Congrats Atlanta!!

Oh and in case you're wondering the airports which look most likely to make it in the next top 100 are Brasilia, Prague and Auckland. Other possibilities are Helsinki, Lisbon, Cancun, Cairo and Montreal.
