airBaltic was suppose to launch 3 weekly Riga-Radom (RDO) from 1 September and Czech Airlines 3 weekly PRG-RDO from 18 September...starting up commercial services at RDO again.
Did it all happen as planned, because only having 212 passengers for the whole of September makes one wonder how good these routes are doing?

Hello guys,

finally I got statistics of Haneda airport which was the last to add (surprisingly NYC was not the last one this month ) So here is the latest info for August 2015

Although August is not as fascinating as July, we can definately find some interesting data here.
First of all 18 out of 40 busiest airports experienced busiest month ever. More interestingly 15 of those 18 airports already experienced busiest month in history in July, meaning in August they even surpassed July's maximum (those airports are: PEK, LHR, CDG, IST, FRA, HKG, AMS, PVG, JFK, SEA, BCN, FCO, YYZ, CTU, MUC). So far this year is going to be very succesful for some airports.

ATL has more than 9 mil passengers..again! 3rd consecutive month!
PEK got more than 8 mil passengers (8 145 000) in a single month for the first time in history - making it second busiest after ATL
DXB hit 7 mil passengers for the first time with expectation of possible growth
both HKG and IST surpassed 6 mil. passengers in single month..another great achievement (hopefully PVG and AMS will join them next year at the latest)
4th airport in China reached 4 mil passengers and it was CTU (for long time i thouhg it would be SHA)

On 12-month rolling basis its visible how ATL is getting closer and closer to the magical number 100 000 000 passengers in single year...I am pretty sure we will get there as well as I believe in PEK to cross 90 000 000 passengers in 2015.
IST for sure, PVG possibly will join the club of 60+ this year with already passing that borded in August. I am also hoping for KUL to get over 50+ this year but it has to work hard.

So far we have 34 airports over 40+ passengers. I am sure if current growth maintained LGW, BOM, SZX and FCO (I am very sure about FCO since Sept stats are already out) will get over 40+ by end of 2015. With GRU and SYD I am skeptical.

Here is also a development of monthly cumulative stats for more than a 1000 worldwide airports.

For a long time i meant to show you this graph. It is showing net growth (loss) of 12-month period over the previous period. It is the same as compare current month period vs. the same month period last year only now a month period is replaced by a year period. Hope its understandable
Anyway July 2015 was the highest after the crisis back in 08/09 adding more than 42 milion passengers. That is very very good number showing health of industry.

Yeah, you are right. When talking about top 40 airports, most of them publish their statistics within a 30 days, however there are exceptions. Usually latest are aiports of NYC (45-50 days), Haneda (50 days), Denver (40-45 days) and Toronto (40 days). Apart of that Washington airports usually take almost 2 months. On the the other hand Incheon's stats are public within 7 working day!

I was a bit ahead couple month ago saying LHR would end up at the worst position ever (6th busiest). As of now it seems LHR might be busier than HND, however HND has some new routes to open towards the end of this year, so lets continue with the battle!

I also wanted to show you some interesting charts comparing several airports with similar size of traffic.

I have to say i love asian airports, there is always something happening as you can see below

Anyone knows why ORD and EWR are descending? They both are losing thousands of passengers every month. Any airline is going to increase capacity to ORD and EWR?

I've had a closer look at traffic between the top 4 EU aviation centers (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Paris) and mainland Chinese cities. I painstakingly looked at each individual flight in the time tables of each airport. Here is the result.

As of right now, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Paris have direct flights with 6 cities in mainland China. London has direct flights with only 4 mainland Chinese cities. Next December, Paris will add a 7th mainland Chinese city (Chengdu, long overdue) and will become the EU city with the most connections in mainland China. This should reinforce Paris's lead in the Chinese market.

Here are the mainland cities served by direct flights from:
- Paris: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu (starting in December 2015), Kunming, Xi'an, and Wuhan
- Frankfurt: Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Changsha, Nanjing, Shenyang. (Frankfurt has no direct flights with Guangzhou!)
- Amsterdam: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Xiamen
- London: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu

Among the remaining large Chinese aviation centers, Chongqing has direct flights in the EU only with Helsinki and Rome, and Shenzhen has so far no direct flight with any European city.

Here is the number of flights and the aircrafts used (ranked by size) on each route this autumn 2015.

Direct flights with Beijing:
From Paris (21):
- 7 Boeing 777-300 per week by Air China
