Because, well, with the release of Sim City Societies, and Will Wright's withdrawal from the video game industry, EA has made it clear that it sees Sim City as a franchise that cannot be tapped further by going with more realism.

Simcity 5 may never be there but I still hope on some other companies that will make a better city simulation game. I heard there was an open source project going on somewhere.

There's also IBM's CityOne, which just came online today, iirc.

I tried City One it's a text based game ....My heart lifted a little when I saw the title, but then I saw the post was over 5 years old. There never will be another Sim City game made by Maxis that will pre curse SimCity 4, the last Sim City was a joke, and so are all the prequels for the other consoles, Wii, iPhone... |

Sim City 4 is as good as it gets folks, Societies, Cities XL etc. cannot compare as city simulators.

Same here. Cities XL and Socities weren't bad city sims, they just lack a lot of mechanics we've become accustomed to in Sim City 4.

Well, have you seen the number of plugins made and what they do? It's insane.
