But still only tiny town and village sized maps. That's pretty much a dealbreaker for me. And I was so excited about this game when it was announced.

I've been watching this game for awhile. I bought the deluxe edition in '04 for simcity 4 and I was hooked. I bought Societies and I liked it for awhile...but I got bored and trashed. I got Cities XL 2012 now. I don't like it. Building bridges is extremely tedious for me which is awful because I like building cities with rivers... Not to mention that i can't manually build city blocks like I want to. The last building that I try to build never wants to fit for some reason....
I've shelved it for now... One thing that I liked about Socities and a lesser extent XL was the variety of architecture. I prefered to build aesthetically pleasing European cities. Problem was that all my cities in SC 4 looked like a typical American city. I would have prefered more wall-to-wall structures in more traditional/classical architecture. Plugin's helped but not always... City size aside, a big concern of mine if the graphics which look a bit kiddy-ish like Societies. Simcity 4 and to a lesser, but still prominent extent Cities Xl were much more appealing to me in regards to looks. I'll wait and see.... I'm not liking how its all online.... |

Should I pre-order the $59.99 version (limited edition) or the $79.99 version (deluxe edition). I'm not sure if I want to spend $80 on a video game, but it comes with alot of good features, so I'm stumped. Thanks!

There is now way I am even going to consider buying this game. Let's face it, the SimCity franchise is doomed, and reached it's peak with SC4.

Aren't there any wall to wall buildings in this new Simcity? It's so strange to have a part of open space between every building.

And people thought Cities XL (2009) was bad. Unfortunately, where CXL was improved upon to become a very respectable citybuilder, EA will probably make a bunch of cash from people buying Sim City because of the name alone.

I started to loose my interest in Simcity due to some of the reasons you have stated. I still like the regional play of SC4 plus it's Rush Hour add-ons. Spend all my time recreating NY or SF in SC4 rather than building my own cities. Other missing elements in the new Simcity would be the lack of subways / metro, high-ways, etc.
