i wouldnt want that..cause the skydome adds something very unique looking to the skyline. Rather i would love it if a 70+ storey building was placed beside or behind the skydome!

Unlikely to happen, and I doubt if they would want to build it there themselves. But in the vicinity of the CN Tower, sure... I see nothing particularily sacred about the visual appearance of the CN Tower. I was all in favour of the Royal Ontario Museum proposal of a tall condo beside the ROM.I have no problem with City Place buildings being tall and close to the CN tower... gives something spectacular to look at when you've paid your 18 clams and are up on top of the observation deck of the CN Tower! Get your money's worth. I guess I see the purpose of the CN Tower more as an observation deck than a sculpture... Eiffel Tower it ain't. The better the view from the CN Tower, the more successful it is. I'd rather have it there than towering beside St. Jame's Cathedral.

Well, no I don't think the buildings to the left take away from the skyline. I am saying I like city planning, and the resulting skyline to grow from the inside out; form following function... in other words, the city planning be done specifically for the needs of the neighbourhood, not done from a distance to create a certain artificial "shape" that is strictly an aesthetic judgement on somebody's part. That to me is like those ridiculous City vs City polls when people give a 6/10 to Toronto's skyline because it is "not symmetric". It's
a skyline, not a bathing suit. Vancouver's planning department, in all their wisdom, is trying to undo damage done by their height restrictions. Vancouver has a stubby uni-height downtown because of the ridiculous by-law. Can it be "undone" and create a "mountain-like-bell-curve-like-zen-o-licious" skyline by altering it now? How much space is left in the area for new taller office towers? How much business demand is there in 2006 for new taller office towers? Building a school house does not create children... waving a planning wand will not create a demand to build supertall office towers in Vancouver. In other words, the damage is done and they are stuck with a group of mid-height buildings that ain't goin' nowhere. I have no problem with our skyline being fluid and growing organically. Does anyone ever say NYC has an ugly skyline because they did not have height restrictions (excepting this WTC thing that I had not heard of)?

ps. I love that pano you used... bee-yew-tee-ful!! Neilio, you did a
superb job!! Its a keeper

Thnx Taller! It took me along time before i found a pano i really liked, i must have chosen between 15 other pics of Toronto from the water.

The thing is, you can't see Skydome from most angles any more; and what's so sacred about Sky...er..Roger's Centre? I say, build 'em high and build 'em often.

Your talent grows with every new render. Great job. Would you be up to doing a future Mississauga if I secured a good skyline shot and provided all the building locations?

ya i think i could give that a try. It would be mostly my imagination at work though as the only tower ive seen any renderings of is the Absolute, all the other proposals between 30 and 50 story's ive seen nothing.

wow..grainy looking pic. I will add sapphire to my render but only once the new proposal is released.
Wow...the 1300ft BA tower...we were such dreamers.
And what is the tower directly right of the Simcoe place?? Because i was only aware of Ritz, RBC and Shangri-la going in that general area.

Is that The Uptown that seems to be taller than all the buildings there cept CN Tower.
I know Uptown isn't more than 550 ft, it should be shorter in that rendering if thats what it is.

Uptown at 1000ft wouldn't be visible from that angle shot, it is up near Bloor. That was a dream of what B-A would turn out to look like.
