Beijing has a very beautiful subway although it's not comparable with Shangai metro which is bigger and more impressive.

World's longest? Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Shenzhen and probably some others are enlarging their subway systems far beyond 500km too.

Shanghai's subway system has always been larger than Beijing's after 2000 and it looks like it would remain that way for as long as Shanghai is the largest city in China

And CQ's metro is really non-existent yet. And monorail is although nice is a always empty for some reason.

In Shanghai metro which is very packed already the intervals between trains could be as large as 10-12 minutes. Which is really odd. In Bejing intervals are 2-5 minutes.
Although this may be dependent on the particular line.
However, in Shanghai such intervals exist on heavily used circular one...

Beijing metro is also far more logically organized them one in Shangain. The maze under People square (in SH) is a mess.

On the other hand in BJ at some stations you still have to buy a ticket and give it to a woman that will rip it and you will go in. Plus there are luggage screener machine on station, although they don't seem to be compulsory...

Guangzhou metro is very crowded and also FAR less logical then one in BJ sometimes it is next to impossible to find entrance to the station in a mall. All-in-All to date I'd say BJ metro is best in China which I've traveled on

As i experienced it (last june) - the train intervals weren't that good at all! This could changed since then. Nevertheless there is something that was wierd and annoying:
the system runs only until around 22.00 or 22 and something after that time, while
most of metro systems have trains until midnight or even till 01.00!
Will they extend the schedule at least till midnight?

你大脑有问题吧。西直门地铁和其他地铁站一样,你把地铁站和西直门立交桥搞混了。而且北京的2块钱地铁票可以随便坐到任何地点,一分钱一分货用在这里只能说你中文太不地道。

Don't believe everything you read. Just like the spurious claim of "world's longest." These articles are written by people who have no knowledge whatsoever of transport operations.

Not anymore, that was phased out in 2008 (but now you need the new magnetic ticket to enter and exit the subway, it was quite annoying when I lost the ticket once, had to argue to get out, they wanted me to pay, but I did not and eventually "won").
