There are, you'd find them particularly around Ring 3. The roof height is low so they are very uncomfortable to stand in, but the views from the top seats are nice.

There are. But was also particular is that in Beijing unlike in Shanghai and many other cities in the south of China, there are lots of articulated buses. I'm not talking about BRT, but regular lines.

Beijing has enough space on the roads unlike Hongkong.

This looks like a trolleybus with its poles down - from a month in the future!

Military Museum Line 9 platforms opening at the end of the year. Transfer time expected to be "less than 5 min". It will either attract more people to line 9 and relieve line 10 or the network effect will kick in and more people will take the subway swamping both lines 1, 9 and 10.

Any news on the Yizhuang Railway Station stop? Speaking of Yizhuang, any information on the proposed L2 Yizhuang-Langfang light rail line? Given that Langfang already got regular and high-speed connections, this presumably would be for people living in Langfang working in Yizhuang or vice versa, or local transport in between.

Isn't it just farmland? It's probably changed though since I passed that station on the CRH.

I have seen flats on what was farmland a decade ago now described as Beijing Core in a real estate leaflet. There are some significant developments along the route already, and as it is smack on the line from Beijing to Tianjin line it is a fairly safe guess there will be more. However I'm not sure I would like to take the L2, change to the Yizhuang line, then to the 5 line before going wherever I'd want to go in Beijing. A bus would likely be faster (if not stuck in traffic).

Official news: Beijing's metro one-price (2 RMB) will come to an end. Higher price will be applied to rush hours to control underground traffic.

So they want more people in buses during rush hour?

Details are yet to be released. The rush hour fare will be raised for sure.

More will take buses, likely. But for cars it will just as well have the other effect, driving is massively more expensive than taking the metro, the deterrent is congestion. Higher prices, less congestion.

I have long suggested congestion charges, so I am satisfied that the Beijing transit company have taken my advice...
