Hi guys,

none of your photos are really good .... i am sorry ...
and first .... What are we talking about ?? a Skyline ... yes ...
what is a skyline ?? from an angle, a city can be seen magnificient ... and from another one ... can become very ugly ...
Paris is the perfect example ...
first ... before arguing like fishermen ... it could be interesting to create some caracteristics typically european to judge each city ...
and what can be use for an european city is not necessary pertinent for another continent ...

personnally ... i think the european skylines are not pathetic like one canadian told in this tread earlier ... he just doesnt have the same references in cities like Calgary or Vancouver, which are "new cities".

here is my point, u cant judge efficiently a city skyline if u take only few new buildings built the past 50 years ... like in Francfort or in La defence or Istanbul...
If u do so, then every european cities can't compete with the fast growing world cities.

But if u succeed to agglomerate in one angle .... the main faces of a city ... from its beginning, though its apogee, to the future of it ....
We will then be able to compare what we can compare ....

i will give u an example.
Paris. if we can find a place where we can see ....
the louvre (a beautiful renaissance palace).
with The Luxor Obelisque (3300 year old).
with the Grand Palais (piece of art of the end of the 19th century, symbol of the trust in sciences and modernism at this time).
with the Champs Elysees (seeing as one of the most romantic spot for many young couples in this world).
with the Arc de Triumph (huge piece of stone who remind us the Roman Empire, civilisation who inspired the European countries as the egyptian one did too).
with a huge space of classical low rise european Hausmannian buildings (as Neuilly distrit) and a huge Hood (the Boulogne park)
and finally with the La Defence, that everyone knows here, which was actually only born fifty years ago, which means that we have seen nothing yet ....

at this stage ... if we can find the perfect place to contemplate this skyline ... i go .. take a photo ... show it to u ... and after u could decide if this one is not the best skyline of europe .... and maybe more than that ....

i wait for ur comments.

There can only be one Skyline King, if you ask me.
For Europe, it's Frankfurt.
Even though I live near Rotterdam, and love the skyline there, my vote still goes to Frankfurt because of the taller skyscrapers there.

I agree, Frankfurt is Europe's number 1, for the moment.

Moscow will be the number 1 in the near future!
