Well, I don't think we should blame the leaders...blame the society who voted/brought them to power...and as a society, we don't do enough to advocate for ourselves and our own rights...there are not enough agents of social change in our society...don't just blame those leaders...for all we know...they may even think they are doing what's best for the Filipino people...it is our duty speak out and do something if don't agree...yet most of the time, we don't..

SMC, MPIC clash on road projects
Conglomerates Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) and San Miguel Corp. are on a collision course again over differing proposals on how to fund and build the shared portion of two north-to-south connector roads.
San Miguel-led Citra Metro Manila Tollways Corp. said it planned to build the shared Metro Manila Skyway extension from Buendia to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) on its own and just get a reimbursement from MPIC after construction has been completed.
“I think our proposal is fair and makes the most sense. Everybody wins,” Citra president and CEO Shadik Wahono said at a press conference. “If we pay 50 percent of the cost, but receive less than 50 percent of the traffic, then it will be a negative investment on our part,” he said.
He said both firms would end up splitting the cost of construction of the shared road, with their respective contributions being determined by how much traffic they would separately bring in.
Worth an estimated P7 billion, the 5-kilometer extension will be shared by both Citra and MPIC, which both have approved proposals to construct roads on separate alignments that aim to connect the Skyway with the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx).
Both proposed roads, named the “connector road” for MPIC and Skyway Phase 3 for Citra, will start at the end of the shared portion before veering off in different directions to their respective alignments.
MPIC holds the concession to NLEx while Citra controls the Skyway.

MMDA chief catches former traffic enforcer still acting like one

Quote:
Last November 25, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino personally caught in the act one of his agency's former traffic enforcer who was still misrepresenting himself as an active member of the agency's traffic force--a year after he stopped reporting for duty.

According to the MMDA, Tolentino was on his way to a speaking engagement in Manila when his vehicle was flagged down by former traffic aide Edwin Vicentino "without any clear violation." Vicentino, who was wearing his MMDA uniform and ID during the incident, was questioned by Tolentino as to what the specific traffic violation was. When Vicentino couldn't give a straight answer to any of the MMDA chairman's questions, Tolentino got in touch with his agency's headquarters, upon which he found out that the ex-traffic enforcer "has not been reporting for duty since November last year and was officially dropped from the agency's official roster as of May 1, 2012."

"What he did was both illegal and unethical," said Tolentino. "The MMDA is very strict regarding these matters, and we do not tolerate such behavior from any of our enforcers or employees. Mr. Vicentino, by posing as a figure of authority with malice, is tainting the name of our agency."
Tolentino also warned the public to be aware of enforcers who might try to take advantage of them, especially this Christmas season. "Please do not hesitate to contact us if you run into any corrupt enforcers on the road," Tolentino added. "We have our MetroSolusyon website especially for that."
The MMDA's MetroSolusyon website (metrosolusyon.mmda.gov.ph) is designed to encourage citizen participation in the agency's active campaign against corruption by giving them a medium through which they can report complaints on any matter involving MMDA employees engaged in corrupt practices.

As for Vicentino, Tolentino said the agency will file a formal complaint against him for usurpation of authority.

MMDA launches bike lane in Marikina-Antipolo area

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday launched the bike lane connecting the cities of Marikina, Pasig and Antipolo.

The bike lane, located along Marcos Highway, is marked by paint and separated from the main road using a concrete barrier.

The MMDA earlier launched a similar bike lane in Manila as part of the agency's efforts in promoting good health and cleaner environment.

The agency plans to install a similar lane along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City before the year ends.
