Nešto mi se čini da su u HŽ-u protiv metroa. A i glupi novinari nikako da shvate da laka željeznica nije nikakav "modernizirani tramvaj"

LOL. You are right LF. As soon as the city council gets all serious then everyone becomes an expert.

It will be interesting either way what they decide. I'm guessing what Gredelj has to offer in a week or two could influence if its a metro or LR.

If they take the Gredelj offer of 20 electric sets then you are looking at least 80 million Euros for the metro trains. I dont know how that would compare with alternatives from Siemens, Bombardiere, etc. I gather Gredelj sets would be a lot cheaper.

I dont like the diesel option. Too much polution for my liking. Electric is much more environmentally friendly.

My Mums younger sister until recently used to live in Pantovcak which was several doors down from the presidential home.

However, the house she lived in was purchased by her father in-law after WW2. It previously was the Zagreb residence of the American consul so I was told.

Lovely grand house but it long since fell into disrepair. They divided it up into 3 apartments as it covered 3 levels but petty legal action amongst the family members say the original home decline due to lack of maintenace funds.

In the end they sold it for a top price to which sadly a developer has since knocked it down.

My aunty had the top level and the view over Zagreb from her back balcony was awesome to say the least .....

Mesnicka is one of the streets that connect Upper town with Ilica....requires walking up the hill

We wanted to get a new white facade, but we gave up because of new
possible scenarios - parking lots and business buildings

Anyway, this certain kind of houses in Zagreb, you can find in my street lol, and in Jukiceva street near the Zapadni kolodvor. They look pretty much the same.

Kind of, yes

In my area, which is right across GK, there are quite a few houses like that, and around ZK, as i said. There also might be more on Tuskanac, Pantovcak, Cmrok, Jabukovac, Zelengaj etc, all these have a great bunch of old beautiful historical houses of mixed styles. I think i posted some pics already (?) , I can repost them again, no problemos

Gosh, it seems very built up. Zagreb is always full of surprises.

^ I think Gajnice was built in 70's or smth like that, as you can see some old style commies in the pics, there are plenty recent stuff getting built too. All in all it is a nice, clean and calm place with very good bus and tram connections to Zagreb

Actualy Gajnice is typical suburban district – lot of commies and family houses and industries etc. It is developing fast, I know that Tehnika is building 4 residental buildings in Gajnice. BTW a friend of mine lives in one of those Soprano's commies

Barem još dva, da ne bude gužve. Inač kolodvor ima oko 10 perona, ali problem je što se neki peroni nalaze na istom kolosijeku, pa si vlakovi međusobno smetaju.

Industries in Gajnice? You mean the Podsused district and its famous 'Cementara' ?
I love Gajnice, it is pretty green...my first real girlfriend was from there, so i kinda spent 4 years in this suburbs Still remember romantic walks up on Zelena magistrala
