I don't even think Louisville is that bad, and we have a couple of rather intrusive surface lots DT.

A large number of these lots are set to be filled with towers (there are already projects set to go over them). I kind of think the surface lots are good for now. It leaves plenty of room for growth.

The city should be more dense! Yet the buildings are very cool, nice city, been there many times

I agree, there are some fantastic new towers and good ones on the way, but if you go to Emporis and look at the list of buildings, there is a HUGE drop in height once you get out of the top 20-30. A real lack of 15-20 story buildings. I have been so jealous of all of the residential towers and structures going up, but now I realize why...there werent any to begin with. At least for a City Charlotte's size.

Not a diss on Charlotte, just an observation. The City is really charging ahead though!

Holy crap! When did Charlotte grow up? If you haven't seen it in person...it was a big surprise for this first timer. Charlotte is in the shadow of DC and Atlanta but being in the city for only a couple of days makes me wonder - how long until the word gets out about this surprisingly sophisticated city with a dramatic and rapidly growing skyline? I especially loved the view of downtown from the "4th ward" (?) park. Skyscrapers, at close range, emerging from a park with mature trees, extensive and beautiful landscaping, children playing, older people, blacks, whites, browns, gays in the shadow of towers...amazing city.

8/10 now, but 10/10 in 5 years.

Most of the parking lots in the above aerial will be gone over the next 5-10 years with the addition of a park and minor league baseball stadium in Third Ward, mixed-use village in First Ward and numerous high-rise projects either under construction or in the works. Keep an eye on the CLT!

Here are more shots I've taken:

When I was a teenager flying through Charlotte for a layover, and before I knew I was obsessed with skyscrapers, skylines, etc. (wow, that's weird to admit!) I remember looking outside while smoking at the terminal being like "Holy shit, that's a really tall, nice looking building! [BOA building]"

Very nice skyline for its size, 8/10!

first off i think a few people in here that are hating on this skyline are jelouse lol apeacially of that tall one. i gave it an 8.5. Three of its building are nice and that tallest one is very impressive for a city of this size. That building is in the area of 900 ft !!!! also i have to add the style of some of the buildings is very nice " i like "

I love seeing those cranes everywhere. Charlotte still has many many many gaps in its skyline.
