after the redesign of SWFC it is easily Burj Dubai.
US7.. or ICC is also nice, but in now way as unique and stylish as Burj dubai.
and not as tall of course.

and here my favourite render:

Actually, SWFC is a great building with its circle design on the top. But the square design will not be a cup of my tea.
Burj Dubai tower is ultra-tall compare with ICC and SWFC. I won't say this tower is the best in the design (It look like a supper tall pen stand). But this tower is stunning.
ICC tower is simple but elegance. So, ICC is the best among them.

Well, I never liked the SWFC anyway and this new version puts it off my list even further. So between US7 and burj dubai, I know I'll get my ass kicked but I have to say US7. This curvy variation of a normal box is what makes it look fantastic. Even though the burj is higher I still prefer US7 and it's my favourite supertall out of anything going up at the moment. Burj is my 2nd favourite

I would've picked SWFC, but it has since turned into Freedom Tower part II (Meaning politics has turned it into crap. Stupid looking trapezoid)

So Burj Dubai by default.

Since when did they change the design of SWFC? I can't find any information on the Web. The drawings on Skyscraperpage still shows the old design with a circular top.

^ look in the thread for it in the contruction forum. (The end of part 2 and part 3)

This is a tough one, my three favourite buildings. SWFC redesign takes it out...Uh..

I'll say BD - just. Mainly because it'll look so dramatic when complete.

Since when did they change the design to this 'square' hole? WTF? I know the problem with the circle was that it was Japanese designed & reminded Chinese too much of the Rising Sun, but that apparently was 'corrected' with the addition of the skybridge across it, with the architect crapping on about it showing the 'two sides being joined', 'bridging the gap between the nations' and all that crap to appease the Chinese.

I know this 'cos I saw a programme about it on Foxtel at the weekend.

So when did the design to this square shit happen, and is this a go now?

The Chinese must've eventually seen through the architect's bullshit and wanted it changed.

However, I do think it's a bit pedantic. I mean, if you ponder hard for long enough maybe you can read the Rising Sun thing into it (I understand the politics behind it, that they hate the Japs for occupation and mass murders), but for starters, it looked beaut before (now it looks shite) and if they can't handle the past, why on earth did they choose a Jap to do it in the first place?!!!!

Please answer the above if anyone knows.

Also, when will they EVER start building this shite, or has it re-commenced again now?

I'm not sure when they decided to change the hole, but offical renderings have been up for about a week. And construction continues, work as reached about the 10th floor.
