4 cities have Metros (A, B, C are simply segments of the lines inagurated not names themselves)

**Caracas
-Line 4B under construction
-Line 3B finished but in operation, meaning outer stations, but in between stations being built.
-A tunel linking line 2 and recently finished Line 3B

**Los Teques
-Recently inagurated
-First line just links to Caracas (limited operation), 10 Km line
-Second (multiple?) lines under construction: more stations in Los Teques and bordering satelite cities.

**Valencia
-Recent innaguration
-3 stations very soon to open 7
-Line 1B under construction

**Maracaibo
-Yesterday was inagurated
-2 stations, 7 stations to be finished in jan
-Line 1B under construction.

New Metros under construction

**Metro de Guarenas Guatire
-Very similar to metro Los Teques. First tunnel is 30 Km long and links to Metro de Caracas. (Some argue that Metro Los Teques and this one just fall on the Gran Caracas umbrella, but they are independant systems that have the added bonus of linking to seperate metro areas)

Metros rummored to start

**Metro de Maracay.

The red is just politics.

Chile has only 2 metros, Venezuela has 4 metros, Brasil is bigger than any other country in Latinamerica and have few metros for its size comparing it with Venezuela.

Is a Metro:

Article from Wikipedia

The Maracaibo Metro, also known as Metro del Sol Amado (due to the city nickname), is a subway system currently under construction in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The metro encompasses the suburbs of Maracaibo and Maracaibo itself as drop off point, the subway is being built by the city government of Maracaibo and the Venezuelan national government.

The first stage of line 1 will be 6.9 km long. The totally planned system of four lines shall have 60 km in the future.

German company Siemens is supplying signalling, telecommunication and electrification systems as well as the first 7 metro trains, based on the vehicles from Prague.

It started official testing in November 2006.

Article from UrbanRail.net

System

The first stage of Metro Line 1 of Metro de Maracaibo, now under construction, will be 6.5 km, running along Av. Sabaneta. There will be 6 stations, 4 at grade and 2 elevated. The first station, Altos de la Vanega, is located next to the depot and workshops. From here the route runs at grade towards the city centre with stops at El Varillal, El Guayabal and Sabaneta. After the latter station, the alignment will be on a viaduct including the last two stations Urdaneta and Libertador, the only ones with side platforms, right in the city centre. Completion is envisaged for mid-2007.
Trains will run every 5 minutes during peak hours and every 6-8 minutes off-peak. The maximum speed is 70 km/h, average travel speed will be at 35 km/h. Current supply will be at 750 dc via an overhead wire. Trains are supplied by Siemens, based on class M1 originally designed for the Prague Metro A 3-car trainset is 58.2 m long, and 2.7 m wide. Train floor lies 1150 mm above the rail top. Seven trains are being delivered for phase 1.

History

25 Nov 2006: L1 La Vanega - El Varillal (official opening)

early 2007: L1 La Vanega - Libertador

Projects

The second stage of metro construction includes a 3.1 km northern extension of Line 1 to Av. 5 de Julio along Av Delicias. When completed in 2010, L1 will be 9.4 km long. Once L2 has been built, L1 may be extended north from 5 de Julio towards Milagro Norte.

The third stage will be Line 2 running west from Av. 5 de Julio to Curva de Molina (8.5 km). The central section (2.27 km) with three stations will be underground, the rest on a viaduct. L2 will not be completed before 2018.

Later two more lines may be added:

Line 3 - from La Coromoto in the south to La Virginia in the northeast (19 km, 25 stations)

Line 4 - running north - south from Sector Cujicito to Sector El Silencio (17 km, 21 stations)

Note: old articles, but in everywhere its knowed like a METRO
