Wireless Toronto in St. Lawrence Market
"Wireless Toronto is partnering with the South Market Tenants Association and the St. Lawrence Market Complex to bring free wireless Internet access to the historic neigbourhood. This joint initiative is a fresh way of re-imagining how technology, community groups, the arts sector, and businesses can come together to re-vitalize Toronto’s public spaces. You can check out the launch of this initiative takes place Friday, October 7, between 5 PM – 7 PM in the West Mezzanine of the South St. Lawrence Market.
Wireless Toronto is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit community group committed to encouraging the growth of no-cost WiFi to the city’s public spaces. Working with local civic organizations, artists, and technologists, Wireless Toronto explores how wireless technologies can be used to build community in innovative and interesting ways. Wireless Toronto has already launched a number of free wireless ‘hotspots’ with the first hotspot was launched at the Centre for Social Innovation at 215 Spadina Avenue." |

Thus, allowing people to sit in a cafe, and instead of chatting to one another, they can surf the web, download tunes to their MP3 players, or, of course, e-mail. Do everything by chat to the person you went out for coffee with. Great.
