Put another tally in the win column because this one is definitely a success. I'm interested to see how the landscaping turns out.

This is a really nice development. The building looks good to me, the location on the river and the views of the city can't be beat, it's in trendy River North, but you can walk across the river on Grand in be in a neighborhood that has some character and regular people!

Too bad it's rental (for now)!

Here's an instance where SCB didn't need to do the articulation of, in this case, every 4th floor with the white slab edge cover. It kind of feels like an afterthought here. I think the glassy end pieces would've worked better if they went from the bottom to the top uninterrupted...but it's just my opinion.

Still a nice building. One of the best in that new neighborhood.

Speaking of landscaping, I was by there yesterday and they're constructing a form for a cement structure with lots of plumbing inside. Must be for the water feature that hides the loading dock area from the front entrance. Could be really nice (or a little tacky)

I wholeheartedly agree. SCB has a tendency to get a bit finicky on their facades. They always seem to add one too many detail.

We should have the east radius and the NE patio on 46 done on Sat. Giving it a 'finished' look from the east. There has been an army of landscapers working on the 'green' area on the top of the parking garage for 2 weeks. The amount of soil, trees, paving blocks is smething to behold. It is on a grand scale.

Interestingly, this rendering from post #1 doesn't have those white bands.

Taken today -- notice paint on garage compared to the concrete on the tower. This thing is going to look a lot different when the whole thing is painted.

Great shot hydro! Too bad they're painting the concrete - I rather like it unfinished (as usual).

People always think concrete needs to be painted and can't appreciate it 'unfinished.' It's kind of sad.

I've been stuck in Atlanta for 2 weeks. It is a jungle of unpainted concrete boxes. I just can't get my head around the esthetics of that look. Sorry. However, is Marina Towers unpainted? So maybe great design trumps all - no matter what the material.

The time around the summer solstice, the city sitting under a Canadian high, is always exciting for the architectural photographer. Taken yesterday:

Retro - that second picture in your July 3 post is absolutely stunning! It's as if there's absolutely nothing else near this tower!

As you can tell, the skip hoist is coming down, should be done by Tues. McHugh wants all the windows installed in the 'hoist bay' by 9/8, so they can finish the interiors by 9/13 to turn it over fully to the owner. It'll be tight, but we'll come close to that date.
