Another Gothia hotel tower, Göteborg

Hotel Gothia has announced plans for a third Gothia hotel tower in Göteborg. It would make the hotel complex the largest hotel in europe in terms of rooms (exkluding russia). With 1200 rooms.

The reason is to be able to compete out Stockholm so that major trade fairs keeop taking place in the exhibition hall in Göteborg. The rooms currently available are simply not enough.

When completed the complex will look like this:

Is this the best choice, or would it be better to make one of the existing building taller instead, if possible?

I read that the new tower would get 28 stories and the old ones would be increased to 25 stories..

Read it in Aftonbladet, sounds great! The new one will be 28 floors as Sideshow Bob said, and the two existing will have 25 floors each. West Tower (23 floors today) is 72 m, so with 25 floors it should be around 79-80 m, and 28 floors should be 88-90 m! That will make a nice little skyline

they are all a bit Fat, and the complex will be quite flat... but the facade seems to kick ass really!

Fascade looks great. Gothia towers are anyway one of my favourite Swedish skyscrapers.

Finally a new highrise project for Göteborg. And no bad project, it will be Europe's largest hotel!
I have voted yes in GT of course. I remember when I was up in the bar of one of the towers last summer. Really great veiws and among the favourite building in the whole Sweden!
I have just drawn the 2 existing ones for the diagram, I think I should add the 3rd tower as proposed!

I don´t like the proposal really... The two current towers looks great together although they are a bit fat. Three of them would make the complex flat as ch1le mentioned above. Just duplicating the original tower from the 80s is a waste of money in my opinion. As a resident in Göteborg I would rather like to see something new, original and fresh.

Svempa:

The thing however is that they want to expand the hotel becouse there is a demand for it. The most appealing way is to build the excisting complex bigger.

If it would be a project of it's own it would be a different story. I don't think they look fat from street level.

However i agree with that there is, from a style perspective more need for something new. I would like to see something new to. But i'm happy that this is getting done becouse of the benefits for the city.
