I stood at the top of the Space Needle many years ago...great view from up there.
I give it a 9.5 because it looks so futuristic and it is the symbol for Seattle. |

I applied for a part time job to be an "elevator operator" at the space needle once but they never called me back
![]() I liked that scene in the movie "men in black" where the saucer section of the space needle comes crashing down the most recognizable land mark in Seattle is obviously the space needle and the second would be it's monorail which takes you from the space needle to downtown. |

This tower works well as an icon for Seattle, which isn't an easy task for it's hieght in relation to Seattles other buildings (can anyone picture what the tower in Calgary looks like... no? thats my point).
It has a fussiness of detail that gives it an almost gothic sensibility. Ironically, this virtue allows it to avoid feeling 'dated'... even though it's an obvious product of the 60's the lower level that sticks out like some kind of awning is clumsy looking, though. I'll give it a generous 8.5

Definitely one of the best because of its timeless quality and the fact that it's such an icon. Seattle just wouldn't be the same without it. It's done as much for Seattle as the Gateway Arch did for St. Louis -- such a part of the city that you can't even imagine them without it! 10.
