Great news, if true. Budman is reporting that construction should begin January 3, 2006!

The rendering in the ad looks about on par with the latest renderings that have been floating around here (at least to these tired eyes).

I got this message from a friend....
Butler, The ceremonial groundbreaking has been pushed back to December 31 at 10am. As you can imagine, coordinating schedules between different government officials and corporate executives can result in some last minute schedule changes. The lot already has fencing up and work will still begin on Tuesday. ...I've just driven past the site, and green canvas fencing has gone up on the southside of the lot. I will be driving down there tomorrow to see if I can collect any type of information and to snap photos. |

Here are some photos that I took yesterday...
Fencing at the main entrance. Fencing along the alley side. Settlement marks in the alley. |

Nice!! Killing two birds with one stone, the death of another evil parking lot and the birth of a beautiful, very tall scraper!

I saw a picture (in the hotel I am staying in near Midway) of the north loop in the late 80's/early 90's and it is amazing how many vacant lots existed on the east-west section of Wacker. The Wacker Dr streetwall has really come along nicely and relatively recently.
This is the last piece of the puzzle... |

I'll probably be berated for saying this, but, I wouldn't mind seeing something replace General Growth's building on the west side of N/S Wacker (I think it's at Washington?).
