The first rendering is quite interesting. All 6 blocks are interconnected by sky bridge! A great way 4 thief to escape!

I can't judge the second project from the render, but it looks cool like the others. I like the third project (Blue Rose) most; I love those swimming pools and the overall design. Simply, wonderful!

Try to top them how?

Do you want us to post about bigger/taller/better projects within the state, country or the world?

The first and third one look really cool :-) Not sure about the second one.
What are the chances of those getting built. The two first look like very early designs...

interesting looking projects but the second one from the top (city place) looks terrible. too bold and too parallel and those triangular turrets look too disneyworldish. the other two seem more like Vegas style themed mega resort projects that, as beautiful and exciting as they are, should NOT be in the downtown center to try to create a sense of urbanism.

The first and third aren't in the city center. They are in the International Dr./attractions area. The 2nd is just a massing model, but the final product is to have similar dimensions. They're all great projects, but 1 and 3 are going to contribute nothing to downtown and will further cement the attractions area as the place to be...

I don't like the whole "top this" mumbo jumbo. Every city has projects proposed and built that cater to its needs, so to speak.

The Orlando Cityplace project (No. 2), to me, is a waste, since those pyramid topped structures, at least the one on the right, is a refurbished 30 year old former Holiday Inn that has no business being included in the project. It should have been demolished. The ceilings are too low, to say the least.

The First project, is too much of a vision project right now, but it does include an aquarium in its design, so its probably much further along than Cityplace. Plus, the developers, from Boca, already purchased the old Delta site and are committed to the project.

The third, Blue Rose, to my shock, is this far along. It's not, however, the only "big block" or "big box" development on I-Drive under development. ---

---There's also the Aqua Resort, with over 2,000 rooms and costing $2 Billion to take over the Mercado parcel. Now, that's a non-casino money driven hotel/resort outside of Vegas, just like Blue Rose. (sorry, no pic). That, in and of itself is impressive. Aqua is backed by Unicorp and LaSalle Natl. Bank of Chicago.

Let's not forget Rosen's Shingle Creek Resort & CC further down Univ. Blvd. 1,500 rooms and a 250,000 square foot CC and two golf courses and the Rosen School of Hospitality for UCF. It's already topped off.

Also, Gaylord Palms may increase their CC from 400,000 ft2 to 1.1 million ft2 and add another 500 rooms to the existing 1,400 if the deal w/ Osceola County goes thru.

Also, Peabody's 800 room expansion will break ground before 2006 at 33 stories.

^Now the Peabody expansion... That is worth mentioning IMO... What a gem that could turn out to be.

Of Orlando's large-scale resort developments, certainly Blue Rose and Aqua will be the most impressive if they come to fruitation. Both are taking over parcels that are non-urban and helping to further along the urbanization of the I-Drive corridor as a pedestrian area.

Aqua (anyone see a slight resemblance to the Bellagio?):

water show out front...

The Peabody has the most relevant location w/re to the OCCC, and the new tower will also be accompanied by a new lobby/concourse and new meeting rooms. It will fill in alot of the parcel right up to the sidewalk of I-Drive, which is good.

Also, Pointe Orlando (the shopping center) is under redevelopment as we speak.

Blue Rose, Aqua, and Shingle Creek needed to be closer to the OCCC to make a bigger impact w/re to the whole walking distance issue.
