It always makes me worried though seeing most cities in the US getting so many new tallests. With materials in already short supply, what will happen?

is there a denver development forum?

the link i tried is dead.

i'd like to know more about what is going on out there across "the ocean" (the great plains), i go camping behind rocky mountain national park every once in a while, but don't know a whole lot about the denver metro, other than LoDo, the Boulder area, and downtown Ft. Collins.

In the rendering for the Glass House project above, what do those other towers around the two initial buildings represent? Is it a future phase?

I love the modern-style buildings with a bit of a historic twist. All of these projects are really uniquely shaped, I love the 18th & Market condos and 1000 Speer.

Andy, those are just placeholder future buildings. Nothing specific at this point.... althought, there is a rumor going around about another tower being announced for the Central Platte Valley soon...

Looks great!! I was in Denver this past summer for about 4 nights and I was really impressed. I stayed at the Executive Tower Hotel downtown right smack across from the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Everything downtown was very walkable, ergonomic and clean. I was also impressed with how nice everyone was there.......I even had help with my luggage from an older couple on my way back to the airport. There was this funny HUGE white alien/human sculpture outside of the perf.arts complex that I got a kick out of, but liked it a bit. I later went up into the mountains and noticed how clean and thin the air was. I had to breathe a bit deeper than usual.........I am from North Carolina where the air is more humid and thick. The Denver Zoo was pretty cool too!
You Coloradoans should be very proud!

Here's a new rendering. The project was announced earlier this year, but just now we've got our first look at the building: a 12-story Best Western hotel Downtown at 15th & Stout. Not a huge project, but it replaces another surface parking lot!

^pretty awful. If you're going to build a squat cube, at least don't dress up like it was a deco tower.

^ So if someone's to build a squat cube, they should intentionally make it as ugly as they can???

It's a 12-story Best Western hotel, not some Donald Trump uber-chic luxury condo tower after all! They are required to build to the property line, and from a basic real estate development and hotel layout perspective, you're essentially going to build a cube at this level. On the outside you try to break it up and throw in some different materials or colors as best you can. But this is still a corporate budget hotel. Frankly, I'm happy it looks this good!

What were you expecting from a Best Western... Santiago Calatrava? This is a background/filler building taking the place of a crappy surface parking lot. Be happy!

Really, it's one of the ugliest renderings I've seen in a long time. One of the things civic boosters ought to keep in mind is that you're not doing your city any favors by cheerleading crap like this. Buildings last a long time. Which means a mistake like this will be marring Denver's downtown for years and years. Better no development than bad development! At least a parking lot contains the potential for something good. Architectural squalor of this degree is a negation of hope.
