Thanks for telling me, I didn't seem to notice that.

I know you live in a desert, but it still looks weird. There's nothing wrong with it, I was just pointing it out.

yes it does look weird. the sandy area on the right side of that pic is the site of the Dubai International Financial Centre which will have landscaped gardens once complete.

OK, just to post some of the rumours about different towers, etc... (thanks SA Boy ).

First of all, there's some recent news that 8 plots from business bay will be auctioned on December 11th but the thing is these are the only ones with no height restrictions and they're really emphasizing this.

We should definitely expect some talls here and there are already some rumours floating around like a supertall by the fortune group that's supposed to be somewhere between 100 and 125F :eek (go here)
I'm sure these guys will turn up at the auction.

Aswell, Donald Trump might be doing some more stuff apart from the flower one on palm jumeirah. We don't really know anything about this yet.

According to SA Boy who works with this sort of stuff (his company in planning their own 300m tower), Frank Gehry and Santiago Calatrava might be doing some stuff for Dubai. I'm really looking forward to this since great design and great height isn't something you always find

Here's a link to more gossip of this sort

Also it seems this madness is spreading to other emirates. According to SA Boy Abu Dhabi will certainly not be left out of the picture. He mentioned 88F twins and some other towers of similar height.

Are any low or mid-rises being built to expand the city or not?

I'm sure that with all this urge of constructing very tall buildings, Dubai's town planning will somehow suffer during the process.
